"Someone to talk about the universe with."

New York, NY

Ed and Sara met in NYC on a cold November night in 2016 (*cough cough Tinder*). Ed arrived early at the Whiskey Ward in Manhattan's Lower East Side to pick the bartender's brain and create a truly unique whiskey flight. When Sara walked in he was immediately drawn in by her welcoming smile and effortless beauty - and thought, "Wow." She saw his baggy jeans, work boots, a worn leather jacket over a hoodie, a warm smile - and thought, "Cute fixer-upper." *Fun Fact: Sara almost didn't show up because Ed tried to joke that he was already drinking (he wasn't) and was pretending to slur his text messages. The joke didn't land, but the rest of the date changed their lives. The conversation was easy, interesting, and ranged from super-structures made of galaxies that resemble neuron networks in the brain, to death and friendship - to an expose on why Ed thinks the creature from Alien is the perfect monster. They walked to the nearest subway station. Ed kissed Sara. It was horrible and dry. But they laughed and Sara let three trains pass her by before making her way home to the top of Manhattan. Ed went home to his apartment in Brooklyn, energized and eager to see her again.

The Longest Distance Relationship in NYC

Inwood, New York >> to >> Bushwick, Brooklyn (and back)

3 months after the Whiskey Ward, Ed asked Sara to be his girlfriend. She said yes. If anything is a testament to their connection and dedication - it's traveling back-and-forth on the A/C train from Inwood at the tippy top of Manhattan all the way down and over to the middle of Brooklyn, to transfer to the J/M line and continue to Bushwick. Door to door, with no train delays (which are inevitable), it was a 1hr 30min commute. With train delays - easily 1hr 45min or even 2hrs! But hey, they knew their relationship was worth it. All the while, Sara was auditioning across the city and hitting the road for various gigs and Ed worked to grow startups at a marketing agency.

The Good. The Bad. The New.

New York, NY to Savannah, GA

Ed adopted two cats in August of 2017 and named them Greyson & Babs and Sara fell even more in love with her cat-loving-boyfriend. Sara and Ed moved into an apartment together in Crown Heights, Brooklyn in 2018. Then they started their foster and rescue journey, rehabilitating 16 other cats & kittens while finding their forever homes. Helping animals get the care they need became a core part of their lives. Ed joined a startup that makes pet insurance more accessible. Sara became the adoption and foster coordinator for a non-profit rescue group. 2020 started off with a bang in the best way. Sara competed in Miss NY USA and placed in the top 20, then a month later competed as a semi-finalist at the American Traditions Vocal Competition (ATC) in Savannah, Georgia. It was during the week of the ATC, under the nighttime amber glow of Forsyth Fountain in Savannah, Ed asked Sara to marry him. The world faded away - and Sara said, "Yes!" Then COVID hit. After staying with Ed's family outside of Philadelphia, they figured now was a perfect time to try a new city for a little while - and they flew back to Savannah. Sara had originally wished for a long engagement and to live on Forsyth Park and visit the fountain where they got engaged every day. She got her wish (wether she liked it or not!) They lived in a carriage house on Forsyth Park, made new, close friends in their "quarantine bubble" and fell in love with Savannah. Now, they're building a home in "The Hostess City" - the most haunted city in America ;) (clearly Ed loves this) - and are ready to get married. After 5 years & 5 months since that amazing first date, they're saying "I do" on May 6th, 2022, and inviting you to celebrate their ever-growing love story.
