How We Met

01.03.2015

The story is as unorthodox as it is romantic. Danielle and Michael grew up in the same area, went to the same elementary school and high school, but their paths never crossed. Not until 2 years after Michael moved to Texas, when he began noticing this ‘beautiful blonde’ in pictures with all of his closest friends from back home. The moment he saw Danielle, he knew there was something incredible about her. It started with playful messages being delivered through friends (e.g. “put in a good word”), with the occasional group FaceTime, which went on for a few weeks. Finally, Michael mustered up the courage to ask for Danielle’s phone number and on January 3, 2015 they had their first one-on-one conversation. Immediately everything clicked. They spent countless hours on the phone. All day, every day. It was a great start to a relationship but that elephant in the room lingered: Danielle was in Chicago and Michael was in Austin. Would this really work? The odds and 1,100 miles would indicate otherwise, but they knew they had something too special to let go of. So, Danielle and Michael decided to give it a chance with the life blood of their relationship consisting of 2 things: 1) The understanding that if this is truly important enough to one another, they will make it work. The distance is a hurdle, not a brick wall. 2) Every decision made would be under the same context: With you or for you. If it couldn’t be done with the other person, then it would be done for the other person. They even came up with their own little hashtag: #wyofy After two and a half long years of long-distance, navigating the many inconveniences and complications of two people desperate to be together, Danielle moved to Texas. Their love flourished which brings us to today: The moment in their lives when family and friends celebrate Danielle and Michael’s unity. A unity that is inseparable by distance or time.
