It was a warm spring evening. Edward was waiting nervously for Esteffi outside her place. She finally came down & Edward’s nerves were calm. He gave her his favorite flower (passion fruit) to show how much he liked her. She told him she liked it, but left it in his car after the date ended, and it wilted away :,( He took her to Taqueria 2 Potrillos, to taste delicious Mexican food. She could taste the authenticity saunter on her taste buds as she walked in. Her eyes were overwhelmed with the vibrancy of the various fruits they use for the array of agua frescas they serve. He had a torta & she had a carne asada burrito. The food was divine. The moment Esteffi took that first bite, a joyful tear rolled down her cheek. Oh what heaven that was. That tender meat so exquisite, swirling in her mouth, breaking apart, and recombining in a fugue of spice & savor so delightful. And then, a jalapeño! The most playful little jalapeño! That roiling lava of salsa & jalapeño juice it overtakes her. She is falling. Quick, someone catch her! And that's when she catches you. That chewy voluptuous mistress Tortilla de Harina. Flame-kissed cheeks crackle with warmth in her mouth, cradling the beans & rice letting her know that this is no ordinary Mexican food. This is God, speaking to her with food. After that celestial experience, Edward and Esteffi went to play miniature golf. Esteffi was struggling to make it in a lot. Edward decided to take it easy on her and mess up so she could catch up. Although they kept score, they never did tally up the points to see who actually won. Edward ended the night by taking her to a special place. It was his secret place on a hill where she could see the city skyline twinkle out in the distance. Dividing the city and the blanketed starlit sky was the silhouette of mountains. They held hands under the shimmering stars and got to know each other better. By the end of the night, Edward had dispelled the superstition of Friday the 13th.
It was a day like any other. The only difference was this day only happens every 4 years… Esteffi had gotten ready to meet Edward’s mom and sisters for a winery outing. She was distraught on what to wear, but Edward assured her anything she wore would look beautiful on her. Esteffi had finally arrived to his parent’s house so she could enjoy her time out with the girls. When she had arrived, Edward was dressed like a bum, as usual, so Esteffi didn't suspect a thing. Since the girls were having an outing, Edward thought he and his Dad, Phil, should go and do something. Or at least that’s what he told her... Edward and Phil left before the girls. Unbeknownst to Esteffi, Edward had it all planned out. On his ride over, he transformed from a bum to a handsome prince (think Aladdin, but the American version). He arrived at the winery before Esteffi could suspect anything. He found the perfect spot. A secluded area of the winery that was outdoors and surrounded by oak barrels. The sun was shining bright and a cool breeze cleansed the air. The girls had finally arrived to their destination. Edward had sent the location to his sisters to help guide Esteffi to his desired area. Unfortunately, Esteffi chose a seat that prevented the element of surprise! Luckily his sister had distracted her with her phone. Edward snuck up behind Esteffi using his sister to shield him from Esteffi ‘s line of site. He made it behind her without her noticing. Made Edward think if someone were to break into our future home, she would be a goner. Anyways, he got down on one knee, and then tapped Esteffi on the shoulder. She looked at him as if he was a ghost. Her first words out of her mouth were, “Oh F***!” She was in shock and disbelief! He then asked: “Esteffi, will you make me the happiest man and marry me?” To his happiness, she said yes. He slipped the elegant flower-styled engagement ring on her finger and then embraced her. In that moment, Edward thought all was right with the world.
