Smithsonian Museums
There are 17 Smithsonian Museums throughout the city all of which are free to visit. Some museums will sell out, so make sure you reserve your ticket online prior to visiting. Some of the more popular ones are: Air and Space Museum, Natural History, African American History, American History, National Portrait Gallery, and National Archives Museum.
National Mall
There's nothing better than walking, riding bikes, or scootering around the National Mall to see the various memorials, monuments, and museums. You can find Capital Bikeshare locations throughout the city or use Uber/Lyft to find a scooter.
The White House
If you're staying at the Riggs, the White House is just a few blocks down the street!
Library of Congress
If you’re in town Thursday, go to the Library of Congress for happy hour! Tickets are online. You can also go here and get an official library card!
United States National Arboretum
Go check out the original Capitol columns!
Georgetown DC
Georgetown has the best shopping in the city! Walk around M Steet and Wisconsin Ave and then stop by historic Martins Tavern to sit in the booth where JFK proposed to Jackie. You also have to go to YELLOW which is our favorite cafe in the city!
Eastern Market DC
Grab a coffee Saturday and Sunday morning, then browse the vendors at the Eastern Market farmers market.
Union Market
Union Market is a great place to go grab a casual lunch! This food hall has options for everyone and really great food. Nearby there are many restaurants as well!
Albi
This restaurants is one of the best in the city and is SO worth it if you are wanting to treat yourself!
Le Diplomate
This is one of DC's most popular restaurants and we love it. This restaurant is surrounded by a ton of other good restaurants and bars as well.
Old Ebbitt Grill
Old Ebbitt is an iconic DC restaurant very close to the White House.
Zaytinya
This is a great restaurant right across the street from the Riggs!
La' Shukran
This restaurant is amazing but you’ll definitely need a reservation!
Dirty Habit
Dirty Habit is a cool restaurant and bar in the Kimpton Hotel Monaco right across the street from the Riggs. Its a good place to sit outside and enjoy a cocktail.
VUE Rooftop
This bar is located on the rooftop of Hotel Washington. There are incredible views of the National Mall.
Calico
This is a cute bar to sit and grab a drink at! Its about a 15 minute walk from the Riggs Hotel and is open until 1am.
Denson Liquor Bar
This speakeasy is only a 5 minute walk from the Riggs! Look for the stairs down to the entrance on 6th St NW, across the street from the fire station. Open until 2am.
River Club DC
This is a very cute restaurant near the Georgetown waterfront! Has great cocktails and would be a great brunch spot Saturday morning.
Balos Estiatorio
This is a great restaurant for a larger group!
Astro Beer Hall
This spot is just a 10 minute walk from the Riggs and would be great for a larger group! Open until 2am.
Dacha Beer Garden (Shaw)
Dacha is a popular beer garden and great to sit and hang out outside!
U Street Northwest
This area is super fun to go out in if you're looking for a lively crowd! You'll have fun no matter what at Players Club, Black Jack, Salazar, and Franklin Hall.
Free State
Free state is a casual basement bar that is about an 8 minute walk from the Riggs. Open until 2am.
Call Your Mother Deli – Georgetown
Great bagel sandwiches here! There’s also a location in Capitol Hill
Tatte Bakery & Cafe | City Center
This place is great to grab a coffee or breakfast at!
A Baked Joint
This is another great spot to grab coffee and breakfast at! It’s about a 15 minute walk from the Riggs.
Minetta Tavern DC
This restaurant is in the Union Market neighborhood and is a great dinner spot.
F1 Arcade Washington, D.C.
This is a new place that has a bunch of Formula 1 car simulators!
