We’re performing a traditional Episocopalian wedding service: it’s in a church, with a priest, bible readings, organ music, candles, vestments, and communion. Faith is important to us, and we hope you’ll enjoy our warm church home. The service will be at 4947 N.E. Chouteau Drive.
We will conclude the service with the Lord’s Supper, which is an important Christian rite where we have the Body and Blood of Jesus, under the appearance of bread and wine. The Episcopal church has an Open Communion policy: if you have communion at your home church, or are baptized, you are invited to come up to the altar rail at the appointed time and receive the holy bread and wine. You can opt instead to receive a brief blessing from Father Galen, which is available to all. You can also peacefully remain in your pew! None of these options turn you into an Episcopalian, just an episco-“Pal” ;-)
After the ceremony ends, the Bride & Groom, bridal party, and immediate family members will adjourn to take some quick pictures, and Guests will go out straight, turn left, down the stairs, and arrive in the downstairs Parish Hall, where food and beverages will be all setup, with some seating available. Help yourself to drink and food, and the wedding party will arrive after 10-15 minutes to greet everyone. We’ll enjoy conversation and refreshments for an hour or two!
No gifts are expected, your presence is gift enough. We are pretty well settled into our home already, and so we have much of what we need. If you feel so moved, we will happily accept any gifts, but particularly encourage contributions to our honeymoon fund, which we plan to vacation on in January. Look at the “Registry” section of this website to Venmo us such donations. Other gifts, we encourage to give directly to Ed & Kylie during the reception or some other day, so we can thank you properly.
The wedding party will be wearing baby-blue (dusty blue) and orange (terracotta). Our dress suggestion is “your Sunday best” whatever that may be, and have no expectations otherwise of how you dress or style yourself: we are just thrilled to have you.
In the pews, we have received RSVP’s from 40 family & friends and have also invited our home church congregation to attend. We anticipate roughly 80 people to attend the reception.
We will be having a cocktail style reception downstairs in the parish hall, where there will be plenty of alcoholic & non-alcoholic beverages and a variety of appetizers (meats, cheeses, crackers, spreads, fruits). The wedding party will join the reception after taking quick pictures, and the Bridge & Groom will be at a greeting table near the food to meet everyone. There will be unassigned seating available.
