I probably walked passed Edward a million times at the library at USF on my way to visit my friend at work. It wasn’t until the one million and first time when I finally got the chance to meet him. My friend was his coworker and when I walked up she introduced us and I walked away to go about my day after a nice conversation. Later that night she came over and asked me what I thought of him, apparently he asked about me. I couldn’t believe it! About a week later I finally got to talk to him again and again walked away without his number or giving him mine. Later I’m studying in the library after class when Edward walks up with a giant grin on his face. He was trying to make small talk about Organic Chemistry, eventually he asked for my number. I went home giddy that night and squealed when he texted me right away asking to go out the next day. Edward took me to Felicitous Coffee and Tea house. It was magical, we sat outside under the twinkly lights and talked for hours, about everything… including Disney, Star Wars and Harry Potter. We made a deal that if I watched all the Star Wars movies he’d read all the HP books (someone still hasn’t kept their word… 7 years later!) We ended up with a set of domino’s and instead of playing the game, used the tiles to spell out words to describe each other… “SMART”…”ADORABLE”… “BEAUTIFUL” we were grinning at each other the whole time. We fell in love deeply and quickly, six months later we were in line at Subway talking about what we wanted to do after graduation and I told him I wanted to move up north for my graduate program and career. He looked me dead in the eye and said “ You know I’ll follow you anywhere, right?” That’s when I knew that he was the one. He kept to his word and followed me to New Jersey, and when it was time for him to follow his dreams I followed him back to FL. I think that was his real test for me, to see if I would follow him like he did for me. A full year after being back, he FINALLY proposed. He took me back to the USF area and when I saw him turning into Felicitous I knew what was about to happen. He took me to sit under the twinkly lights just like our first date and of course when he proposed I said YES!
Who knew true love would start in a library. It started with a few glances and a little courage. Thanks to a mutual friend we had, I got to talk to Claire for the first time. From then on there was this unexplainable attraction. I just knew I had to take this girl on a date. It took me longer than I like to admit to work up the courage to ask her out. I had a little help from her friend, an elaborate ruse where I casually return her headphones was planned out. I remember nervously walking over to Claire in the computer lab holding her head phones and talking about chemistry (because I knew we would have great chemistry together!). At the end of it all I asked for her number and asked her out to get some tea. We went to our now favorite tea place,Felicitous, where we talked for hours and played dominoes. Although we played it our own unique way. I initiated connecting pieces to spell out words describing her like beautiful, smart, and unique. Our first date was one of many! I was enchanted by Claire by how easy it was for me to talk to her and how she went along with my silly ideas. Fast forward some time and a serious discussion came up. She asked me “I want to get my master’s but the programs for me are out of state” I looked at her and without a second thought I said “I’ll go where you go!” Many years later, we’re back in Florida with many memories had and more to experience. We’ve been together through a lot, good times and bad times. The most important thing is that we overcome it as a team. I proposed to her in the place where it all started…the library at USF. Just kidding. At our little tea spot, Felicitous. It took months of planning, but it worked out because she never saw it coming! Oh and she said Yes!
