Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center
This sculpture garden is owned by the Smithsonian Institution. Beautiful walking paths, lots of nature, and local artisans' work. You can even arrive by boat to visit!
Patuxent River Naval Air Museum
The Patuxent River Naval Air Museum has several displays both interactive (simulators) and static (aircraft), as well as educational displays. The aircraft at the museum include a Blue Angles F-18, UAV's (drones), helicopters and many more. Tuesday: Saturday 10:00am-5:00pm Sunday: 12:00pm-5:00pm Monday: Closed
Calvert Cliffs State Park
Hike the two mile trail to "The Cliffs" and hunt for sharks teeth! Enjoy nature at Calvert Cliffs State Park, the trails take you along wetlands and woodlands as you hike out to the beach on the Chesapeake Bay. The trails are a fairly easy, flat hike but lots of roots and rocks are numerous. Sunrise to sunset, Daily, year-round
Historic Leonardtown, MD
There is a lot to do and see in Leonardtown -- beautiful wharf, fun winery, shopping, great food, lots of history. Leonardtown is in St. Mary's County, about 20-25 minutes from Solomons.
Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum
Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum (JPPM) is a place full of secrets waiting to be unearthed. Whether you come to hike their miles of trails, explore the Visitor Center full of interactive exhibits, or enjoy one of their educational programs or events, you will leave with a greater appreciation for the land and the people who once lived here. JPPM is also the home of the Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory (MAC Lab), which houses over 8 million artifacts.
William B. Tennison Chartered Boat Cruise on June 1, 2025
We are inviting interested guests to join us on the Wm. B. Tennison Cruise on Sunday, June 1, 2025 from 12:00 - 1:00 pm. MAXIMUM CAPACITY IS 40 PEOPLE. This is a leisurely one-hour sightseeing cruise on the Patuxent River. You will sail the busy Solomons inner harbor, see Solomons Island and the Chesapeake Biological Laboratory, pass underneath the Governor Thomas Johnson Bridge, and turn back at Pt. Patience and the Naval Recreation Center.
Chesapeake Hills Golf Course
The Chesapeake Hills Golf Course is in Lusby, MD, less than 10 minutes from Solomons hotels. It is a wonderful course, featuring 6,545 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 72.3 and has a slope rating of 126. Designed by Jim Thompson, Chesapeake Hills opened in 1968. Chesapeake Hills is owned by the Calvert County Government and operated by the Department of Parks & Recreation. With more than $1.5 million in recent course improvements, Chesapeake Hills offers an all-around great golf experience!
