It was summertime, 2016. Katie was finishing her 6:30 pm CrossFit class when she noticed a guy sitting on the stairs waiting for the last WOD of the day. Edmundo really enjoyed small classes and always tried to avoid attention, last class of the day was a good excuse. One day Katie was really busy and had to attend the 7:30 pm class. Katie and Edmundo finally took a class together; it was a "clean" workout. Days passed and Edmundo felt confident enough to ask Katie when she would join the 7:30 class again. Katie enjoyed talking to her gals who happened to be regulars at the 6:30 class so the answer was, "we will see." The following week Edmundo saw Katie in the parking lot; he asked her out. Katie mentioned she wanted to celebrate with close family. Edmundo got approval from Don and Carol back in September. It finally happened during a pre-Christmas dinner at the Novak's two days before a trip to Mexico. Carol asked Katie to get some bread from the freezer in the garage (it really happened in the garage), of course there was no bread. Katie got a bit impatient trying to find the bread. Edmundo had 4 minutes to pop the question considering Carol and Steffi were getting the living room ready with pictures, balloons and decorations. Yes, they ran trials the night before to time how long it would take them to get everything together. Katie mencionó duarnte el noviazgo que quería celebrar con familiares cercanos en el remoto caso que se fuera a comprometer. Edmundo obtuvo la aprobación de Don y Carol en en Septiembre de 2023. Finalmente sucedió durante una cena previa a Navidad en casa de los Novak, dos días antes de un viaje a México (CDMX, Oaxaca y Puerto Escondido). Carol pidió a Katie que sacara un poco de pan del congelador en el garaje (realmente sucedió en la cochera); Por supuesto que no había pan. Katie se impacientó un poco al intentar encontrar el pan. Edmundo tuvo 4 minutos para hacer la pregunta considerando que Carol y Steffi estaban preparando la sala con fotos, globos y adornos. Sí, hicieron ensayos la noche anterior para calcular cuánto tiempo les llevaría tener todo junto. Katie no pudo resistir al encanto de tener un esposo Chilango.
