Evan-Thomas and Kemi-Edith matched on Hinge in February 2024. Although the hand of God began preparing us for our season together long before. In December 2023, Evan-Thomas was riding his motorcycle on the H3, a one-way highway on the Island of Oahu, when his bike broke down. An older Hawaiian gentleman, driving a green truck, stopped to give Evan-Thomas a ride. The Good Samaritan refused payment for the ride, but instead gave Evan-Thomas a flyer, inviting him to Anchor Church’s Christmas Splendor. For over a year now, we have both looked for this gentleman at all four of the church services at Anchor, but we have not found the Good Samaritan. Evan-Thomas asked the head Pastor of Anchor church, Pastor Rob, about this Good Samaritan. And Pastor Rob responded to Evan-Thomas that he had never heard of him, and that it was probably an Angel. All who we share this story with respond that supernatural power is at work. When Evan-Thomas returned to retrieve his bike that night in December 2023, he discovered that it was perfectly fine and even had gas in it. March 2, 2024, Evan-Thomas was at the Bone Thugs and Harmony concert when Kemi-Edith called him; he stepped away from the noise to speak. The conversation we had that night marked a turning point in our relationship. We spoke freely, openly, and with so much grace. That was the night we fully accepted each other’s pasts and chose love. We took time to learn about one another truly. We discovered our shared love for Jesus and believe that our ultimate goal is Heaven. We saw how our strengths and weaknesses balance each other, how our families—many of whom live in Georgia—mean the world to us. We shared the experiences that shaped us, the wounds we’ve carried, and the faith that has guided us. What we realized was that God had been molding both of us, quietly and carefully, toward each other. December 2024, Evan-Thomas served at Christmas Splendor as a member of the Anchor Church's dream team, alongside Kemi-Edith, and we plan to attend each year we are blessed to live on Oahu. Our love grew day by day, and in July 2025, with the expressed consent of Kemi's dad, we decided to spend the rest of our lives together! On September 27, 2025, by God’s grace, we celebrate our engagement with our beloved O’ahu community. Finally, on March 2, 2026, exactly two years from the night of the concert, we will become husband and wife before God, our family, and our friends in the state of Georgia. This is our love story, and we are grateful to all of you who play a major role in our season together!
