When Jonathan first saw Edis in the halls of his Bible college, he thought “she’s pretty.” Edis remembers being invited to the college Bible study and meeting Jonathan there. She thought he was the sweetest guy she ever met. When Jonathan heard the questions she asked at the Bible study and saw her authentic desire to grow in following Christ, he began to ask her questions. Our friendship took root over a little pumpkin at Belvedere Plantation and flowered into a romance on our first date May 8th 2018. The summer that followed was filled with love, laughter, and lots and lots of ice cream. Four years later, Jonathan wanted to propose somewhere special but keep it a surprise. Over our many dates in Downtown Fredericksburg, we discovered a little market square and made several memories there, like our first public waltz to an older musician’s tunes. With the teamwork of Edis’ mom and friends, Jonathan set up a red herring and schemed away to try to surprise Edis with a special night to ask the big question. On April 28, 2022, Edis thought it was a regular date - dinner in classy clothes and a stroll downtown. Jonathan prayed and prayed for God to make the night special in ways He knew best. And He did! Directing her attention away, Jonathan got on one knee and popped the question! Edis shook with emotion, exclaiming, “Of course! Yes!” She then laughed, “It’s upside down!” Jonathan’s eyes were so intent on her reaction, he had not even noticed! Laughing he flipped it over, slipped the ring on her finger, and embraced her! By the time we get married, we will have spent five beautiful years together. During those years, we grew closer to Christ and each other and want to dedicate the rest of our lives doing so.
