The two met through Edgar sisters-in-law. It was the first time they had met each other. They became friends and would go out to concerts and dinner with other friends. Through their friendship, they began to care more about each other than just friends. After a year of being friends Edgar asked Elvia to be his girlfriend. As both were sharing the news and meeting each other’s family their parents and grandparents were very much acquainted with each other. Our families had know each other for years but had lost contact with each other. Our grandmothers were close friends from church. The couple even went to the same elementary school and yet our paths had not crossed each other until 30 years later. As though it was destined for us to meet later in our lives.

What seemed to be just a normal night with the two of us just at home cozying up to a movie and having dinner. Edgar told Elvia that he was “held up in traffic” and to pick up a special package from his parents' house. What Edgar was doing was getting his proposal ready to Elvia. He wanted to have both parents blessings. Edgar and his mom had already picked out the ring and his parents were excited. He then went to Elvia’s parents home to ask for her hand in marriage. Elvia’s parents were so happy they gave Edgar their blessing and asked him to record the proposal. Once he was home, we had dinner and he specifically wanted to watch the movie “42” the Jackie Robinson movie. Edgar got inspired and felt the same devotion of love and words he wanted to express to Elvia. So in the scene where Jackie is proposing, Edgar paused the movie got down on one knee and expressed his love and spending the future with Elvia and asked her to marry him, with all surprised excitement Elvia said Yes!
