After a week of texting, we challenged each other to a first date run. The lead up to our date included many watch pictures tracking mileage, and jokes about short shorts & racing singlets. Though I was not feeling a run on this early spring morning, it ended up being a gorgeous day (you know that first tank top weather in Pittsburgh). I learned early on that Paul has always been & always will be an absolute cardio savage and he easily kept the conversation flowing throughout our run. We ended with a long discussion on foot mechanics, and for those who spend any time around us know that should not be a surprise. At our cars, Paul asked when he could see me again, and thus I dubbed him “Persistent Paul”. I knew he wasn’t going anywhere ❣️
I had FINALLY succeeded in getting a girl to go on a run with me. I was tired of coffee and lunch dates. We met in Schenley Park, right on the track. I knew Eden ran in college, I knew Schenley Park like the back of my hand; this was going to be fun. And it was! As I remember it we went on a 40 minute run and talked the whole time. I was later corrected and told I talked the whole time. Who'd have guessed that?! I think what sealed the deal was my lengthy rant on the human foot and minimalist shoes. That had to have been what impressed her the most. After our date, I sat in my car and couldn't stop smiling. I couldn't wait to see her again. It was the best and last first date I ever went on.
If one day could summarize our lives together, it would be the day that Paul proposed to me. We slept in & had a late breakfast prepared by Paul (okay, this part was a little out of the ordinary). We got Pie Shoppe donuts, hiked, fished, and ran within the Laurel Highlands and capped off the evening with dinner at my parents. The day was full of Spotify bangers, car dancing and laughs, a lot of steps, sweat and physical activity. It was the perfect day. He took me on a walk at my parents’ and proposed to me on the site that we would one day like to build a house.
