We met at the 2017 MetroRED Winter Retreat and were placed in the same cabin. We became friends and started hanging out regularly. Jason had a massive crush on Eden at the time but she didn't know or suspect a thing. After we went to karaoke for a friends birthday, we ended up singing a duet together! After that Jason finally gathered enough courage to ask Eden on a date and it's been a great journey ever since.
Proposing to a significant other is one of the hardest and most stressful things in life to plan. There's the essential element of surprise but it should also feel organic and relevant to the individual. After coming up with 8 different ideas and multiple permutations depending on her energy level and the weather, the winner of them all was a scavenger hunt across NYC. We hit a lot of the spots that we visited previously and I dropped way too many hints at what was coming at the end of the game as the "prize". Lo and behold, after we finished the near impossible scavenger hunt, I took her to a nearby park with an epic waterfall and popped the question there. She said yes after a pause that felt like an eternity. (she said she was overwhelmed and there was no hesitation. LIES. lol jk.) I had one more trick up my sleeve after I slid the ring on her finger. We went back to the clubhouse of my apartment complex where most of our close friends gathered to celebrate our engagement with us. She was definitely overwhelmed at the site and didn't want to enter the door. Eventually it was all smiles and laughs the entire night. BEST. DAY. EVER. (so far...I can think of a better one coming in May 2019)
