How We Met

Summer of 2020

The world was falling apart at the start of the pandemic, but if only we knew ours was just beginning. Work hours were long and days were hard so getting paired together to work on the covid unit did not have either of us thrilled. But that didn't last for long... Something about each other made the world spin slower and the sun shine brighter. Everyday we would convince people that we were nottttt a thing, would never be, work bros we'd say! Days and weeks went by, nights got longer but not because of work, because of random hour long conversations by our cars. We could talk about anything and everything, but just being with each other did something special. Eventually, the summer came to an end and we went our separate ways to colleges on opposite sides of the state. And in that moment.... we knew. How did leaving a summer job at a local nursing home feel like the divorce we had never had. As the school year began, the long night conversations continued, distance wasn't a factor in the relationship that we had developed. We began traveling back and forth from Cullowhee to Charlotte and the love we had for each other only grew by the day. We spent the next year exploring every city in between us, eating way too much good food and starting nursing school. We would have never guessed that the two upcoming years would challenge us so much but being together in this difficult profession only drew us closer. Every tear, late night, and hard test was worth it because it lead us to our beautiful home, successful careers and now our dream wedding! We are so excited to celebrate with each and every one of you!

The Proposal

8.4.23

For the past few months, we had been trying to do date nights on Friday nights. Starting our new jobs, and especially switching to working night shift, spending intentional time together wasn't always easy. Jacob had been planning this for weeks now, but little did Eden know. That Friday, the 4th we were both off, so Eden had asked Jacob everyday what we were doing, to which he ignored her each time. Everyone who knows Eden, knows that she is big planner so not having detailed plans a week in advance for her day off was definitely bothering her. The night before, Eden asked Jacob if they could dress up cute one last time for a summer date and go out the next day. To Jacob, this was a giant relief, the work was done for him and he didn’t have to find a way to convince her to get in a dress and go out. That day, Eden could not figure out what dress she wanted to wear ( to what she thought was just dinner) so of course, in typical Eden fashion, she went and bought a brand new one. When we left the house, Jacob just said he had made reservations at 6:30 at a restaurant, so Eden didn't ask any questions. When we pulled up to Reynolda Gardens, Eden asked what they were doing. Jacob just said that I had been talking about it, so he wanted to walk around there, which she had been for the past few weeks after seeing a cute couples photoshoot in the area. When we walked to the back of the garden, there were candles set up to where he stopped and proposed. To her surprise, there was a photographer there ready to take capture this moment. After we took pictures and soaked up every ounce of pure joy, I thought the evening cute not get better, but he was going to make sure it did in fact get better! We ended the night with a surprise dinner surrounded by our families. This is a moment that we both will cherish forever.
