"What Are You Doing!" These were the first words Kyle ever said to me. We were in sophomore year gym class playing floor hockey. I did not think the game was that serious, but Kyle thought otherwise. I should have anticipated his competitive nature back then. That same semester, Kyle and I were in the same biology class. I became increasingly aware of him, particularly when he was the only student in the class to say "Happy Birthday" to the teacher. The class ended abruptly due to Covid, so we did not have many interactions. Flash forward a year when classes were starting to return to normal. Kyle was walking in the hallway with my best friend. I think I caught Kyle off guard when I said hi to him, but not too long after that we were talking to each other daily. Kyle eventually got the nerve to take me on our first date for ice cream, and we watched the sun set at Mountain Run Lake. This was the day Kyle asked me to be his girlfriend on June 18, 2021. From there on we got to do all of our senior year activities together including painting our parking spots, going to homecoming, and we even had a senior class together (Little Cyclones!). Kyle has been such a great supporter to me, and I cannot wait for the rest of our story to unfold!
I had our first date all planned out. I was prepared to get dinner, ice cream, and have a picnic and watch the sunset. I picked Bethany up at her house. We were dressed casually, and she seemed shy. I began to drive out of the neighborhood, and I asked her what she would like to eat. She then proceeded to tell me that she did not want to eat at all. It definitely threw me for a loop. I thought as quickly as I could and asked if she wanted ice cream. She said yes and we went to the country store. (It was not until a few months later she told me that she did not like to eat in front of people). I then drove us to Mountain Run Lake and we ate our ice cream and just watched the sunset. When it was time to go home, I asked Bethany for her address as I am not very good with directions. I typed it into the GPS and began driving, about 20 minutes into driving to Fredericksburg I asked if this was the right way. She told me it was not, and we had to try the GPS again. I asked if she was going to say anything; short answer, she was not. She would have let me drive all the way to Fredericksburg without saying anything. I had a great time though and would not change it for the world.
