FAQs

Question

What is the Dress Code?

Answer

The couple asks that guests dress in casual wedding or creative attire. We value your presence and simply ask guests to avoid jeans, sweatpants, or gym shorts. Summer in Maine is always variable weather, so we encourage packing a raincoat, comfortable shoes, and lightweight layers. Those who are feeling adventurous enough to join us in the fantasy Dungeons and Dragons theme should feel free to don their favorite Renaissance Faire garb, strap on a sword, wear a crown, or swish in wizard's robes. Fantasy attire at home in the Lord of the Rings is encouraged but not required. Crowns are available at the door. Examples can be found at holyclothing.com, shop.fellandfair.com, armstreet.com, thrift shops, etsy, or amazon. Remember, someone's culture is not a costume; we suggest not crossing the sword-wielding bride: https://rootedconnections.ca/cultural-appropriation-halloween-costumes/

Question

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

Yes, please include them in your RSVP! If you have additional partners not named in the invitation, please let us know, and we will do all we can to accommodate your family.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Yes! The couple asks that vocal, unsettled infants and small children be taken to a separate area during the ceremony or reception speeches. Both venues have large, safe outdoor spaces that are great for burning off some energy. You know your children's tolerances best. Please limit one child under 12 per adult.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony and reception?

Answer

For the ceremony, parking is on the paved roads outside the chapel. Any paved road surface in the cemetery is fair game. Please save closer spaces for those who may have mobility challenges. Parking on the cemetery grass will incur a costly fee to the couple, and possibly a curse on the offending vehicle. You never know with graveyards. The reception venue has a large parking lot. Much lower chances of a curse. However, if you park recklessly outside the lines, the couple cannot make any guarantees.

Question

What is the accessibility of the venues?

Answer

The Wilde Memorial Chapel has X stairs that are Y tall from the entrance to the chapel. Once inside, there are rows of wooden pews with a high back. Wheelchair space is available in the front, and cars can drive right up to the front for loading and unloading. The Reception venue, 33 Elmwood, has ramps on the exterior and interior, in addition to accessible bathrooms. Please get in touch with the couple if you need any additional details; they are happy to do all they can to find the answers for you.

Question

What is the Food and Drink Situation?

Answer

The Reception will be a buffet of elevated American style offerings. Please include any food allergies or dietary restrictions in your RSVP, and we will pass them on to the venue. If the venue cannot safely accommodate your needs, the couple will contact you in advance to discuss alternate options. There will be an open bar with wine, beer, and two signature cocktails up to a particular limit. If that limit is reached, it will shift into a cash bar.

Question

So, who keeps their last name?

Answer

We will be taking both! But alphabetically. We will have Barton as a second middle name and Bushey as our last name.
