Bridget and Ed’s story does not start with those two. It starts eleven years earlier when Bridget’s brother, Kevin, drunkenly stumbled into Ed’s dorm room at Illinois State and those two became friends later that year. Ed and Kevin were great friends during and after college. After many weekends spent together hanging out with friends at the Tuckey's lake house, Bridget developed a crush on her older brother’s handsome friend, and the feeling was mutual. In early 2022, Bridget saw an opportunity to make the first move by texting Ed and asking him if she could be his plus one to his friend, Scott and Brittany Walding’s wedding in Florida that summer. Ed was surprised by the text but loved the bold move and accepted the request. Ed and Bridget attended the wedding together and there was an immediate spark. Bridget and Ed continued to talk the next couple months until Bridget moved from Indianapolis back to Chicago. From there, they had their first true date at Broken Barrel in Lincoln Park followed by a long walk. Both were nervous due to all the buildup of the first date but the conversation flowed and the foundation of friendship allowed for a great first date. Bridget and Ed fell in love over their common interests of traveling, long walks, a tasty beer, pickleball, and discovering new restaurants. They moved in together in 2024 and picked up their puppy Winston on the same day. Ed had to do a lot of behind the scenes planning to guarantee the proposal day was perfect on several fronts and to ensure friends and family would be able to celebrate later in the day. Bridget thought everyone was going ice skating at Millenium park around Christmas time. Ed’s sister, Karly, called the morning of and asked if Bridget and Ed could meet in Grant Park as her daughter, Ada, had always wanted to see the fountain. Bridget had zero inkling and was completely shocked when Ed dropped to his knee. We are beyond excited to celebrate this new chapter with all of you in one of our favorite places, Door County. We’ve attended many weddings together and our favorites have been weddings that include a weekend full of events where guests can meet each other. We also are two people who dominate the dance floor, just make sure not to judge who the worst dancer is.
