How Amy and Ed Met

Some love stories begin quietly, without warning — a simple day that unexpectedly turns into the start of forever. For Ed, it all began on August 30, 2014, during a spontaneous trip to the carnival with his friend Nerie. He didn’t expect that Nerie would bring along two others — Ate Mae and Amy (who would later become his “baby”). Ed had always been the shy type, but as the night went on and they tried a few rides — about three, he recalls — he found himself paired with Amy each time. After the carnival, the group decided to go to Emall for karaoke, where Ed sang “Beautiful Soul.” When the night ended and they started heading home, Ed and Amy naturally walked side by side. Before parting ways, they exchanged numbers — and that simple exchange turned into long conversations that lasted until he got home. There was no chat back then, just endless texting. Fast forward to September 3, 2014, Ed went to see Amy to personally invite her to his upcoming birthday. When his birthday came on September 7, he asked her to go to church with him and his close friend Yeng. After the mass, they went home to celebrate together at Ed’s house. The very next day, September 8, Ed couldn’t resist seeing her again. Before heading to her workplace, he stopped by a shop to buy a pink rose — which he carefully hid behind his shoulder until he could give it to her. That’s when he confessed his feelings and told her he wanted to court her. From then on, they spent almost every evening together after her work — even if it was just 15 minutes, Ed would walk her to the jeepney stop before she went home. Then came September 21, 2014. They agreed to watch the fireworks display at SM Naga. The night was full of laughter and happiness — but what made it even more special happened later that evening. When they were already home, Amy said the words that changed everything: “Yes.” That was the day they officially became a couple — September 21, 2014. From then on, the rest was history. Now, as they stand on the edge of forever, about to get married, Ed still can’t believe how far they’ve come. They’ve shared the best years of their youth — from adventures and rides, to nature trips and spontaneous swims. But above all, one thing has always been their favorite: discovering new places together and eating to their hearts’ content. And now, that simple day at the carnival has led them here — to a lifetime of love. 💍
