Seattle-Tacoma International Airport

Anyone flying in will come to Sea-Tac Airport, about 30 minutes (no traffic) south of downtown. There are the usual rental car and Uber / Lyft options. There's also light rail from the airport to the University District, close to where we live and where our suggested hotels are located (see details below).

Light Rail

It's easy to take Light Rail from the airport to U District/UW Station (a.k.a. the last station on the route heading north, not to be confused with University Street station downtown) and then get a cab, Uber, or bus to your U District hotel. The Orca Pass gets you on buses and trains with a tap, so much easier than trying to use cash. http://kingcounty.gov/depts/transportation/metro/fares-orca/where-to-buy.aspx and there are vending machines to purchase cards at both the Seatac and the University of Washington Stations. The Metro trip planner web site http://tripplanner.kingcounty.gov/ and the 'Transit' app are helpful for planning your route.

20% OFF DISCOUNT INFO for Marriott Residence Inn (brand new property on 45th St. in U District) Thanks to group rate manager Spencer at the U District location, guests for our event can get the Seattle Children's discount of 20%. You have to call and make a reservation with a person and ask for that Seattle Children's rate, though. You can't use a code online. But if you find a rate online and want to know if it would be eligible for the discount before calling, Spencer said it's fine to email him at spencer.reed@marriott.com to check on eligibility.
