While Garrett was visiting friends in NYC, a last minute decision to attend an immersive-theater show "Queen of the Night" started this story. Katherine had been performing in this show from its creation in 2014. Early in the evening Katherine and Garrett crossed paths, which resulted in slow dancing and an extended weekend in the city. Many flowers, phone calls, and roadtrips later; no amount of distance could keep them apart.

Garrett chose to surprise Katherine back in NYC, on the rooftop of her old apartment. Two days before their cross-country roadtrip, Katherine was brought to her NYC rooftop by her old roommate, Mayte. To her surprise, Garrett was on the roof with candles, wine and a very important question. "Will you marry me?" was answered with a quick "Yes!" and kiss to match the excitement. After the couple's proposal, a champagne toast by friends and family (some of whom flew in from KY) celebrated the evening. Katherine and Garrett then went cross-country from NYC to LA, visiting with family and celebrating their engagement. We are excited to start this next chapter and cannot wait to celebrate with you.
