The two of us both fell in love during our late high school years and have remained as high school sweethearts ever since January 2015. After our high school graduation in 2016, Austin decided to pursue an electrical engineering degree at Letourneau University while Destiny chose to pursue a biology/pre-med degree at Dallas Baptist University. We are fortunate to be in the midst of completing our final semester in college and will soon graduate this May--if COVID-19 allows. Despite the physical distance we have endured over the last four years, our relationship has continued to stand firm. Not only have we grown closer to one another, but we have also grown a lot stronger in our relationship with the Lord. We recently celebrated our fifth year anniversary together, and both find peace in knowing that our time apart from one another will soon come to an end on August 2, 2020.
After several years of friendship, we embarked on our first official date together on a chilly January evening. Our night began with Austin picking Destiny up from home in his 1991 Dodge Stealth that he spent two laborious years rebuilding. Our first stop was to see a movie at the Majestic 12 Theatre in Greenville, Texas. We nervously held one another's hand for what seemed as an eternity. Following the showing, we hopped back into Austin's Dodge Stealth and indulged in some Blizzards from Dairy Queen. Not wanting the night to end, we wasted a whole tank of gas by driving around town just talking and laughing with each other. As we neared Destiny's 10:00pm curfew, we made our way back to the old mill down the road from her house and stargazed beneath a perfectly clear night sky.
On the 20th of July, Austin asked Destiny the most important question he had ever asked. “Destiny Joy Eaton, will you marry me?” Of course, Destiny was flooded (quite literally) with emotions and finally answered with a huge yes, but how did it happen? Austin’s plan began forming at the start of June, when Austin and Destiny visited the Davis & Grey Farms venue in Celeste, TX. After spontaneously meeting the owner, we immediately decided that this was the perfect location for our future wedding. Without Destiny knowing, the owner had secretly contacted Austin offering creative proposal advice and access to the venue to help set it up. Approaching the end of summer, Austin had obtained a ring he helped create and followed up with the venue owner to initiate the proposal plan they had worked on together. A week before the proposal, the venue owner emailed us requesting that we schedule tour since the venue was nearing the end of construction. After a day of basking in the summer sun, we met up with our parents to all go and "tour" the venue together. When we all arrived, the owner casually asked if the men could assist in lifting some heavy objects out back. In the meantime, the ladies carried on with the tour. As the ladies made their way outside to the class window chapel, we found Austin waiting at the alter. With the song "Perfect" playing in the background, Destiny made her way towards the alter with candles and lanterns lining the aisle. Overwhelmed with emotion, our families anxiously watched Destiny breakdown with tears of joy as Austin recited the most heartwarming speech you could ever imagine. When all was said and done, Austin found great pride in knowing that he had pulled off the biggest surprise for his future bride--who usually is suspicious of everything and figures out anything before it has the chance to come to fruition.
