Jack and I are huge wine fans. We've come a long way since drinking pink moscato in the freshmen college dorms. Jack knew I had always wanted to walk through the vineyards at a winery, so he decided to use this as inspiration when finding the perfect proposal spot. He landed on a beautiful winery called "The Cellar", located in Cambridge, Iowa. When it came time for the big day, Jack was blessed with a huge hail storm that was making its way through Iowa. I had no idea that he was planning this surprise, so I kept telling him "It's okay! We can just go to the winery another day!".... I'm so glad he didn't listen to me. We made the decision to drive to The Cellar and hope for the best! After ordering a charcuterie board and picking out some different wines to try, we made ourselves comfortable at one of the patio tables. We were paying close attention to the weather app on our phones to see if the storm was going to pass us. After realizing that it was going to rain in the next hour, we decided that we HAD to walk through the vineyards before it got too wet. I was still clueless at this point. As we were walking down the vineyard and admiring the tiny, unripe grapes, I noticed a familiar figure crawling around in the brush across from the vineyard. My future sister-in-law, Sydney Angell, was getting in place to take a photo. At this moment, I finally realized what was happening. I looked down to see Jack on one knee. Before he could even finish his sentence, I was already vigorously nodding and saying "Yes!". The surprise didn't end there. We went back to Jack's house to find all of our family and friends waiting to congratulate us. The night was filled with love, laughter, and lots of watermelon martinis. It was the most perfect day; second only to our future wedding day. We're so excited to celebrate with all of you; see you at Toast!
