Kaitlin left for southern Germany in January 2015, to work as an Au Pair in the Lake Constance area. What was initially meant to be a 6 month experience abroad turned into a much longer adventure, soon after she met Daniel. As a native to the area, Daniel knew exactly the right places to take her to, to really make her fall in love with him and stick around for a bit. Nearly 5 years later, after charming her with some fantastic sushi on their first date, moving to new cities, and countless countries traveled in-between, Kaitlin and Daniel are ready to say "we do!" to forever.

During their annual trip to America together, Daniel asked Jill and Steve for their blessing (bearing Jack Daniels Select and flowers as bartering tokens). Kaitlin's parents gladly gave Daniel their blessing, and the scheming began to plan the proposal in Torch Lake, Michigan. The date was set, and the story was sorted - Jill, Steve, and Kaitlin's siblings - Kristin, Danny (and Macy) sold Kaitlin the story of having to retake "family pictures" that day. Naturally, Kaitlin was a little resistant to the idea of having to get dressed up and take pictures on what was an unbelievably perfect day to use her new cat float. Nonetheless, the troops rallied and the family headed to the Grand Traverse Bay, only to have the sky open up and "rain on their parade". When the sky cleared, the family headed down to Torch Lake to give the pictures another try. Surrounded by Kaitlin's family, Daniel popped the question and Kaitlin said "yes!". A huge thank you to Tom & Chris Brayton, who captured the moment beautifully! On July 6th, 2019, the Brown family hosted an annual "Brats, Tots & Shots" celebration with their extended framily. Both Kristin and Danny helped share the good news, and the party continued into the wee hours of the night. This engagement celebration together with family was one the bridal pair will certainly cherish forever, and memories will be held near and dear (including Daniel's rapping). We can't wait to celebrate the unity of the Brown and Maier families with you all - October 16th, 2021.
