Our favorite coastal stop along PCH - where the views hit as hard as the cocktails. It’s got that laid-back, salt-in-the-air charm that doesn’t try too hard. Order the World Famous Clam Chowder (yes, in the bread bowl), or go for the Brioche Lobster Roll. And don’t miss the Piña Colada - it's the perfect companion to the view!
Tucked inside the Fairmont Miramar Hotel, FIG is ideal for a leisurely brunch before heading up the coast. Favorites include the Chilaquiles and Fried Chicken & Sweet Potato Waffle. Be sure to share the cinnamon roll and enjoy a mimosa (or two) overlooking the pool.
The Bungalow feels more like a beach house rather than a bar. Go for a cocktail at sunset, but stay for the fire pits and people-watching.
The Penthouse sits at the top of the Huntley Hotel and offers some of the best views in Santa Monica. It’s a great spot for a quiet brunch or a sunset dinner. The kind of place where the view does most of the work.
A breezy rooftop hangout with Mediterranean touches and ocean breezes. It’s more about the ambiance and the view, but when the food hits, it hits (especially the small plates). Don’t miss the whipped eggplant with warm puccia bread or the pasta with vodka sauce. Pair with a crisp spritz or a glass of rosé!
A warm, inviting spot we discovered at a friend’s rehearsal dinner that was worth returning to! Birdie G’s serves refined American comfort food with seasonal California ingredients and subtle Eastern European influences. Highlights include the marinated olives and cornbread with honey butter & green chilies, alongside standout dishes like miso matzo ball soup and tamari grilled artichoke.
A thoughtfully restored chapel‑turned‑bakery with architectural charm and top-tier breads and pastries. It’s equal parts relaxed café and artisanal destination; perfect for grabbing a quick morning croissant or lingering over a smoked‑salmon tartine!
If you’re planning a beach day while in California, we recommend heading up the coast to Zuma Beach in Malibu. A favorite from Alex’s childhood, it’s spacious, scenic, and ideal for sunbathing, swimming, or just relaxing in the sand. While Santa Monica Beach may be more central, the extra drive to Malibu is well worth it for a more peaceful, picturesque experience.
Modeled after a Roman country house, the villa offers an intimate experience with beautifully preserved antiquities dedicated to the art and culture of ancient Greece and Rome; set amid lush gardens and tranquil reflecting pools. There is no entrance fee for the Getty Villa, but you do have to request an advance timed-entry ticket. Parking is not free!
The outdoor seating is perfect for sipping our favorites like the Espresso Cloud Cream and the Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte. Located in the Malibu Country Mart, it's surrounded by boutique shops and California coastal charm.
Located in Malibu Country Mart as well, Taverna Tony is where Greek comfort food meets a laid-back, sunny vibe. Grab a spot under the bougainvillea on the outdoor patio and dig into favorites like fettuccini salonika & moussaka.
Malibu Farm sits right on Malibu Pier, offering fresh, farm-to-table California dishes with unbeatable ocean views. Fresh, simple food that feels like a taste of the coast. Whether you’re sitting inside or outside with the ocean breeze, it’s the kind of place to kick back, enjoy the view, and keep things low-key.
Casual beachfront dining with toes-in-the-sand seating, great views, and generous classic bites. Perfect for those who want an easy day by the ocean with a laid-back, slightly nostalgic Malibu vibe. Daily beach rentals (chaises and cabanas) also available from 10am till sunset!
