Luke and Emily’s story started in the fall of 2016 when Emily was shopping for Winter Formal dresses with her best friends and their moms. Emily’s mom told the girls that one of them should consider dating “that Luke Oliver boy” because he was very sweet and polite. Emily took it to heart, and after seeing Luke and paying more attention to him at youth group, she had her heart set on making that boy like her. Fast forward a bit -- Emily had a science project in 9th grade physical science to build a mouse trap car. Emily and her partner had no idea where to start. So, Emily took the opportunity to text Luke and ask his advice on the project, because she knew he had aced it the year before (even though Emily knew her partner had already texted him for help, too, ha!) After using the mouse trap car as an excuse to begin talking, the two haven’t stopped since that day in November of 2016! Luke made things official on January 18, 2017 at church on a Wednesday night with a giant poster and everyone waiting for Emily to walk up the stairs! Emily said “Yes!” before she even had time to read the poster, haha! Ever since then, Luke and Emily have tackled high school, long distance, college, and all of life’s ups and downs from then until now. There is truly something so special about growing into the person you were always meant to be, with the person you were always meant to be with. We feel so grateful and lucky to be where we are today and we can’t thank all of you enough for cheering us on and celebrating us along the way! It’s been a long time coming, but we can’t wait to officially become Luke and Emily Oliver on July 13, 2024!
