Our Story

It started with a swipe

Our story began with a swipe. With I (yes, me, the lady!) swiping first. We met through Facebook Dating, and after a few days of radio silence, he finally matched on January 6, 2024 and messaged, “Hope I wasn’t late to the party by just matching now.” Luckily for him, and now us, he wasn’t. We started talking and getting to know each other. At one point, he told me I was uptight (yes, he really said that!). I remember venting to my friend Amanda, who simply told me to “enjoy dating”. That advice stuck and it changed the way I approached our conversations. We connected more deeply, laughed more often, and found ourselves looking forward to every call and message. Samson was very spot on and direct towards what his intentions were and it was simply- to love me and make me his wife for life. Fast forward, our first in-person meeting was in Chicago that February. I was nervous and excited, packing my bags while my friend Honour kept me company and cheered me on (one of those trips Daddy and Mummy wasn’t aware of) 😆. That weekend in Chicago confirmed that what we had was real. The taste of the first visit was so long lasting that Samson caught the next early flight to Boston two weeks after and this time it was more amazing. In May, I attended his graduation at UIUC, and later that month, he came to mine at Boston University. That visit was especially meaningful, because it was when he met my parents and made his intentions known. By then, we had only met three times in person, but somehow it already felt like forever. Seeing Samson grilled by my Daddy was sweet and assuring as well and we both laughed after he passed the “interview”. Our journey of love has seen tremendous growth and glow and now, here we are - getting ready to say “I do.” I do to a lifetime of love and unending happiness for the gift of each other. We’re so grateful for every moment that led us here and excited for the future.
