Once upon a time in 2011, two Xientians started to become friends. They walked the same dingy hallways of QuesSci and crossed paths at crowded SM North, maybe an absent-minded smile here and a wave hello there. They had mutual friends. They were batchmates. They were taking the first steps on a long journey. They just didn't know it yet. College came and Katipunan saw a few casual texts blossom into endless conversations. Two kids who thought they had nothing in common discovered that they in fact do; tiny threads woven together with a little help from roadside pancit cantons on the dappled byways of UP Diliman. It felt easy. And honest. And just that little bit magical. From then on, the future became less a scary unknown and more a puzzle they can piece together. One Taal eruption, three presidential terms, one global pandemic, fourteen Taylor Swift albums, one romcom-esque Ferris wheel ride, two sunset proposals gone awry, and here we are. Would you look at that? Those two kids? Still at it. Still *gasp* into each other. Still choosing to be together, again and again. They say theirs is the steady kind. Calm, not flashy, like the tide rolling by, changing, yes, but constant. He may be Earl, EP, or Kuya to you. She may be Reig, Wendy, Yoyen, Sammy, or Bebsie to you. But to each other, they are simply home. You have been one of their fellow travellers. Come and celebrate with them as they pass through a new archway in their long journey. Toast them to a 100 more years of matcha+Spanish latte quests, comfortable silences, impromptu dance-offs and love, love, love, and more love as their road goes ever on.
