Piano Karaoke. Cocktails. Gratuitous singing... Doc had invited Emily to join his friends for kitschy tunes in Chelsea at one of his favorite bars, tucked between flower markets and mountains of street trash. Ahhh New York. After doing her best to impress with a totally un-kitschy, earnest rendition of (who else) Joni Mitchell's 'Case of You', Emily found herself on the sidewalk with Doc as he asked her, "hey, would you ever want to hang out, you know, outside of music stuff?" After initially hesitating because she "valued their musical collaboration", Emily got real with herself and called him to hang out the following afternoon. They strolled in a park, they wrote a song together, they shared a fishbowl drink at a tiki bar in Crown Heights... and the rest is history.
