Our Love Story

In October of 2020, Eamon messaged me, answering one of my prompts, saying he will beat me in air-hockey. After a few weeks of talking, we go on our first date. Super conveniently, Eamon chose a bar on my block, the Half Pint. We spend the hours chatting about life and getting to know each other. For our second date, Eamon chose an Italian restaurant in Union Square. At the end of the date, Eamon asked me to be his girlfriend. I was not quite ready ~yet~. For Eamon, "When you know, you know." After a few months of fun, Eamon and I got to know each others' friends and families. We found we love to try new places to eat, go for walks (especially to the dog park in Washington Square), ferry to Red Hook Winery, chores on Sunday, and a cheeky bev at Red Lion. We discovered we are both very competitive, love a laugh, and are die-hard Everton fans (who knew... wink, wink). In September of 2022, Eamon moved in with me and my roommate, Katie, to our 7th floor, walk-up apartment, "The Penthouse." After seven months, we moved down to the 2nd floor, our spacious 350 sq. ft. apartment, that we happily call home to this day. From December 2020 to June 2024, it has been a rom-com, NYC love story. We have traveled, joined each other's families, laughed so much, celebrated four Eamonpaloozas, feasted on endless sushi nights, danced, and loved unconditionally. I cannot wait until September 20th to say I do to my forever! p.s. Eamon has yet to beat me in air-hockey.

The Proposal

June 22, 2024

Eamon planned the perfect day! After months of excited anticipation, the day finally came! The morning started off with the usual Dunkin Donuts order-- black iced coffee for me, a boston cream for Eamon. But this time, he also came back with fresh flowers! Eamon told me to wear something I loved. Conveniently, Shar had just bought me two white dresses three weeks before. I got giddy, and got ready! We ubered to Red Hook Winery, our spot. When we were close, I asked if he wanted to go to the famous key lime pie place around the corner. Not that I necessarily wanted to go, but I was trying to figure out what was about to happen and if we were on a timeline. He said that would be great, but we don't need to go. We started walking to the water, away from the winery, and I thought, "This is it!" To my demise, we turned the corner to the key lime pie place where he got a slice of pie. We then headed to the winery where we did a tasting next to the window, overlooking the water, my absolute favorite. My nerves were calmed and we had fun. After the tasting was over, the manager took us to the barrel room and had us try new wines that were coming out. I thought then, "oh, this is it." The manager thanked us for coming and walked us out. Eamon walked us over to the park along the water, where then, it really was "it." Eamon got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him! It was such a special moment, and truly, a dream come true. After taking a few minutes to ourselves, we went back to the winery to celebrate with our best friends and family. This was honestly a complete surprise to me, to walk in and see friends and family had taken planes, trains, and cars from all over to celebrate with us. We cheered, drank and danced the night away (at red lion of course). It was the most amazing, perfect, and beautiful day.

Our Dreams

As we step into this exciting new chapter, we can't help but reflect on the dreams we share and the life we’re building together. From the start, we’ve known that our journey would be full of laughter, love, and plenty of adventure. At the top of our list is a lifetime of endless laughs—whether we’re sharing a silly inside joke, enjoying the quiet moments (rare with Eamon), or just finding humor in the everyday. We’ve always been each other’s biggest supporters, and that will never change. We dream of continuing to support one another in everything we do, facing life’s challenges hand-in-hand, and cheering each other on, no matter what. We also dream of health and happiness for our families, knowing that those closest to us are apart of everything we do. And because we both have been blessed with such world travel, traveling will always be a part of our lives—whether it’s weekend beach getaways or big trips abroad, we want to see as much of the world as we can, together. There’s three more dreams we’re particularly excited about. We’re planning to upgrade our double bed (coming in at 5'9" and 6'5") to a king-sized bed that actually fits both of us comfortably, it's time! We dream of Everton securing the Premier League Title (some dreams are more realistic than others). Along with those, adding a dog to our family once we move to Philadelphia. We’ve talked about it for years, and we know that bringing a furry friend into our lives will only add more love and laughter. No matter what life brings, we know our dreams are best lived together—always with laughter, support, and love in abundance.

Thank You

As we reflect on our journey to this point, we are overwhelmed with gratitude. This event is a culmination of the love, guidance, and support we've received from so many incredible people. First and foremost, we want to thank our parents. Your love, sacrifices, and endless encouragement have shaped us into who we are today. To all our family and friends, thank you for standing by us, for believing in us, and for offering your wisdom along the way. Your support, whether big or small, has been a constant source of inspiration. We wouldn't be here without each of you, and we are deeply grateful for your presence in our lives. Here's to many more milestones, and to all those who have helped us reach this one. With all our love and gratitude, Madison and Eamon
