It was Halloween of 2017 when Eric was paired up with Elisa to work on an episode for The Book of John Gray. In true halloween form, Elisa was dressed in full costume as a crazy killer from the movie, The Purge and Eric started thinking…. “is this her normal look?” He became intrigued by her style and then she approached him and asked “hey, how was your weekend?" Eric was taken off guard as it’s not everyday that people are so friendly and chatty when they first meet. It was then that Eric said, there’s something different about this girl. As the days went on, he began to look forward to working with her each and every day as she truly made the days go quickly and work wasn’t just work. It wasn’t long before he knew she was someone special and someone he wanted to know better and always be around. Meanwhile, Elisa was just as intrigued by Eric. He was quiet and had a very distinct college-like eating habit that consisted of Baked Lays, Dr. Pepper and chicken parm pizza. He was from Long Island which seemed like another planet to her being that she is from NJ and didn’t know much about that area. They continued working together and as days turned into nights and weeks turned into months, it was very easy to see that they were a perfect team. They spent some time commuting between NY and NJ as they worked on their relationship, but it was clear to see that these two would never be apart. Once the Book of John ended, they were lucky to have their wish come true as they have been able to continue to work on additional shows as a dynamic duo. They’ve successfully transitioned to working in Manhattan to working together in their one bedroom in LI, continuing to make each other laugh out loud. Some would say that’s quite the challenge, but these two made it happen. Elisa was able to get Eric to broaden his palette a bit, but Italian food still rules. Laughter is certainly the key to their successful relationship :)
On January 17, 2020, Eric decided what would be better than to propose to Elisa at the Premiere of Life After Lockup Season 2. Their work family has been on this journey with them so how could they not be a part of this epic event ! As soon as the episode ended, Sarah Simmons, who is one of the characters they've been producing over several seasons, popped up on the screen giving a message to Elisa. At this point, Elisa had a few glasses of wine and a few shots of tequila in her, so needless to say, she wasn’t paying much attention to anything Sarah was saying. Luckily, their Executive Producer, Sophie told everyone to watch the screen and Elisa was so confused for a second she thought she was getting a promotion or something. As soon as Sarah said your boyfriend Eric has a surprise for you..her mouth dropped. Eric got down on one knee in front of everyone, forgetting midway what he wanted to say, but without any hesitation Elisa said YES and started to cry ( as she tends to cry on the drop of a dime). There was no better way to plan a more perfect proposal being surrounded by so much happiness, love and “family” LifeAfterLockup will always have a special place in their hearts forever and their couple MMS (Michael, Megan, Sarah).
