Some stories are written in perfect timing, but ours just took a little longer to unfold. In 2011, after migrating back from Jamaica, I met Oniellia’s mom while working at Marshall’s. Through her mom and mutual friends, I came to know of her, but I didn’t pursue it. Looking back, I realize now that life was simply preparing us for a moment that hadn’t yet arrived and truthfully, perhaps God knew I wasn’t ready for her. However, 11 years later, that moment came in 2022. She replied to my Instagram story, suggesting we go to a Boston Celtics game together, and I agreed. What seemed like a simple night out in March became something much more. From that point on, and a few intimate dates later, everything between us felt effortless like it was always meant for us to find our way to each other. Even while she was living in Atlanta, the connection never faded. As a result, I asked her to be my girlfriend just a few months later, and not long after, she made the decision to move back to Connecticut. From there, we built a life rooted in love, growth, and intention, thanks to her. In September 2025, on one of the biggest days of her life - “Her salon suites grand opening”, I had the honor of asking her to be my wife. It was more than a surprise proposal; it was a full-circle moment, marking everything we’ve built and everything still to come. What once felt like missed timing revealed itself as perfect timing. And from that moment on, I knew this was always meant to be ♾️❤️
