Dylan and River met through the magic of online dating. River was taking lunch from his job at MCAD. He saw Dylan's profile and thought "He's gorgeous," followed by "He's unlike everyone I've ever met." River clicked the star "Like" button and went back to work. Fast forward a few days to Dylan sitting in his micro-sized studio in St. Paul, idly swiping left and right on profiles without digging too deeply into the details. Then River's profile popped up. Dylan read every word of his "About Me" and "Things I Can't Live Without," and scrolled through all of River's pictures. Dylan thought "He's cute but could I really date someone named River? River?" and started to drag his finger left. Changing his mind, Dylan quickly swiped right and then dropped his phone when the "You Like Each Other" box popped up. Dylan messaged River first, a few days after they first matched. In the following week they exchanged hundreds of texts and one accidental phone call when one of them tried to save the other's phone number into their contacts. Their first date was at Brasa in St. Paul, a date that outlasted the server's shift. They both left gigantic tips to compensate for taking up a table for hours. A 2nd date was scheduled shortly thereafter - Transmission's tribute to David Bowie at the Uptown VFW. Awkwardness was high while they waited for Dylan's uber after the event. River went to his car and doubted he'd see Dylan again. Meanwhile in the uber, Dylan felt brave from the post-Bowie high and the gin and texted River to ask when he could see him again. A few days later, Dylan hosted a movie night where they watched Labyrinth and Zombeavers. Sweaty palms and nervous laughter present, River suddenly threw his hands up and said "Let's get this over with. Can I kiss you?" Dylan proposed to River 588 days later. River and Dylan have had many adventures to date - camping, surfing, concerts, tattoos, and traveling to California and Ireland. Their next adventure is just beginning.
