It sounds really romantic to say that we met on the beach, but the truth is we were just a couple of shy, angsty teenagers sitting around a bonfire on an overcast afternoon with some mutual friends. We barely spoke that day, and didn't actually have a real conversation until one night online, nearly a year later. We clicked immediately and have been inseparable ever since. Thanks social media! The first 3 years of our relationship were long distance, by LA standards (Palmdale to Monrovia without a car? Good luck). It took at least a 3 hour train ride to see each other every week, but it was always worth it. We still look back fondly on the days where we fell asleep talking on the phone for hours, had long distance movie nights with our computer screens out of sync, and made mixtapes for each other ♥

On April 28th, 2019 Dylan planned to take Patricia on a nice picnic at their favorite community garden in Pasadena. It was a beautiful spring morning and everything just felt right! Dylan suggested that the two of them do blind contour drawings of each other, and Patricia proceeded to draw the ugliest blind contour portrait of Dylan. Then Dylan started to draw an equally ugly portrait of Patricia. Patricia then noticed that Dylan was writing words on the paper...Dylan revealed his masterpiece and under the portrait, written in barely legible cursive, were the words "Will you marry me?" Patricia said "OF COURSE!" And now their ugly portraits are framed and will be cherished forever.
