FAQs

If you have any questions you cannot find the answers to below, please contact the mother of the bride, Amy at 517-712-3036 Thank you.
Question

Who is Merida?

Answer

Merida is Madison. I have thought about this a lot and in anticipation of my marriage, I have chosen to change my first name. I have never liked the name Madison. It never fit me, and it's uncomfortable to say Madison Maddox. After over a year of consideration and searching I chose the name Merida. If you have a hard time remembering I will understand. Those of you who have known me my whole life as Madi will most likely struggle the most and I understand. If you would like to refer to me by a nickname Meri (Me-ree) is fine. Thank you for understanding this change.

What is a handfasting ceremony?

Answer

The handfasting ceremony is an ancient Celtic practice of binding a couple's hands together to symbolize their commitment to each other. The colors of the cords represent what the couple cherishes most about their partner. The beauty of a Celtic handfasting is that its not only about binding two beings to one another, its about families coming together to be as one.

Question

Are children welcome?

Answer

Children are welcome to attend and enjoy the celebration with their families. To help ensure a comfortable experience for all guests, we kindly ask parents to use their discretion if their child may have difficulty in a group or event setting, and to make alternate arrangements if needed. During the reception, child-friendly activities will be available, along with drinks and snacks for children upon arrival.
