Laura lived across the street from MPM for almost a decade and loved it! There are over a dozen vendors, most serving food, though if you're in the mood for seafood, St. Paul's Fish Market is some of the best in the city—and also happens to serve the best margaritas.
Known as "The Domes" to locals, this conservatory features a tropical dome and an arid dome, along with rotating exhibits. If you're looking for a relaxing way to spend an afternoon, why not relax while wandering around a jungle or dessert?
We love a good coffee shop. There are plenty of amazing, independent shops throughout the city, so if Valentine is not your vibe (there is another location at 189 N Milwaukee Street), we also recommend Stone Creek (multiple locations) and Colectivo (especially the Lakefront location).
One of the best brunch spots in town! But we'd recommend them for lunch or dinner as well!
Their beer menu might be thicker than the Cheesecake Factory's menu! They have an impressive number of beers on tap, and even more in bottles, and focus on European brews. Their food is fantastic, and the cafe itself is very cute.
Who doesn't love a good rooftop bar? We certainly do!
Milwaukee is famous for its breweries. Lakefront has one of the best, though don't skip out on the cheese curds! Enjoy a drink on their patio on the riverfront.
If you're in need of late-night munchies, look no further. They have an extensive menu of unique pizzas, which you can order by the slice or a whole pie, and salads (if you're into that sort of thing at 2am). There is another location downtown at 146 E. Juneau Avenue.
If you're in the mood for something a bit less than healthy they have great burgers, fries and, perhaps best of all, milkshakes.
If you're in the mood to watch the division-leading Brew Crew take on the San Francisco Giants, first pitch is at 1:10 on Sunday afternoon. Make sure you stay through the seventh inning to witness the famous racing sausages!
Even if you're not a biker, this museum has a ton of history and just plain cool. If you get a bit hungry or thirsty during your visit, there is a restaurant right on site.
If you'd like to take in some mostly modern art in an iconic Milwaukee building, the MAM is an excellent way to spend a few hours.
Get out on the water and take a cruise down Milwaukee's rivers and along the lakefront. Lots of history and pretty views of the city!
For a big party and lots of food, head to the Summerfest grounds for Mexican Fiesta - one of Milwaukee's many cultural festivals. Plan for several hours outside along the lakeshore. It's happening August 22-24.
