We matched on one of those new fangled dating apps - Hinge. What I didn’t know? Kyleigh's mom and sister were running the account. Fortunately, I passed her family’s initial screening and scored her number. We attended church on our first date and couldn’t help but comment on how relaxed we felt with each other. By the third date, we were ready to introduce the pups to one another and Kyleigh had successfully convinced me to hang a porch swing despite years of protest. We still talk constantly and I regularly say “talk to me goose” coining Kyleighs infamous nickname, Goose. Before I knew it, a two foot tall, plastic porch goose showed up at my door to keep me company. Costumes sold separately, of course. Unsurprisingly, we began talking about the future and our plans. The more we talked the more I realized how special Kyleigh was to me. The more I learn and the more time I spend with Kyleigh, I fall more in love with her. I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us. Including all the critters she plans to bring home.
As most of you know, Dylan and I have been extremely intentional in our dating—planning most of our ideal wedding, choosing rings based on personal preference and style, and even having invitations signed and sealed. We were only waiting on the proposal. Dylan spent nearly an entire month teasing me about when, where, and how it would happen, even going so far as to help me pick out the outfit I would wear when I received the predetermined code phrase: “Autobots, roll out.” (I’ll let you guess who picked that.) On the morning of February 21st, I received the phrase—along with his arrival time. However, much to my surprise, I was greeted instead by our friend Alyssa… and her blindfold. (Her artistic liberties are still under review.) We took a drive, battled a bit of blindfold-induced car sickness, and eventually met Dylan at Thomas Farm Preserve. In a light rain, he led me past a goose-filled pond, over a hill, and through a pasture to the tree we had chosen for our ceremony. There, on one knee, Dylan reminded me how much he loves me and asked the age-old question. One “yes, absolutely” later, our lives were changed forever.
