New to town and ready to find her person, Kaity reluctantly downloaded the dating apps and began perusing the profiles of available people in Columbus. A couple of months on the dating scene, Kaity came across the profile of a guy with a million dollar smile wearing a Hawaiian shirt and holding a stack of books, when she realized he had used one of his precious picture slots to share a picture of his cats, she swiped right. Despite her profile explicitly stating that she did not want to be the one to message first, as soon as she saw that Dylan had matched with her, Kaity crafted what she felt to be a very clever message to which Dylan replied. Dylan's profile stated "maybe you're the one I'm looking for." Kaity is thrilled that she turned out to be that person.
After matching online, Kaity was traveling back to Columbus after spending the holidays with her family in Pittsburgh and asked if Dylan would want to meet up when she got back in town. He invited her to park at his place and said they would go for a walk around Grandview. Kaity requested a bottle of wine for the first date nerves which Dylan painstakingly selected and had the bottle of Sancerre waiting when she arrived. They popped the bottle of wine and got to chatting and ended up staying up until 6am chatting and never leaving the apartment. The next day they went to brunch and the bookstore. The rest, as they say, is history.
During a very overwhelming time at Kaity's job, Dylan suggested they take the Saturday before students moved in to recreate their first day by going to HangOver Easy in the University District of Columbus and then to a nearby Barnes and Noble. Despite her best efforts to derail said plan by suggesting other brunch spots and bookstores, Dylan insisted they follow the same itinerary. Without any intervention, they were sat at the same table where they had their first date, and then traveled to Barnes and Noble, leaving with another board game for their growing, shared collection. When they arrived back to their apartment, Kaity excused herself to use the restroom and when she came out holding her purse and phone, Dylan emerged from their guest room and got down on one knee in the hallway in front of her. Dropping everything she was holding, Kaity waited for Dylan to ask the question she knew accompanied the beautiful teal sapphire ring before her. After giggling incessantly for a bit - she prompted "... is there something you want to ask me?!?" Dylan very sweetly proposed and they spent the rest of the day sharing the news with family and friends.
