Dylan and I met on July 10th, 2021. We had barely spoken before meeting in person, but the moment I opened the car door to his Honda Accord, looked into his eyes and heard his voice I was in love, a 4 hour date turned into 12 hours easily. We spent the day walking through California Academy of Sciences. We explored every exhibit, chatting with the fish like old friends. By the end of it, we felt like we’d known each other forever. From that day on, we’ve been inseparable, and somehow, every adventure since has only gotten better.
Dylan surprised me with the proposal of my dreams. We were spending the weekend in a private cottage located in Elk, California he found through Airbnb. The cottage was beautiful and even had a private lake running through the back. He woke up early in the morning and said he was going for a walk along the lake. He asked me to get dressed for a little picnic & asked if I can meet him there. I get ready and he sends me a text saying "follow the sunflowers" and of course I had no idea what that meant. I walk out and see sunflower balloons hung throughout the walkway leading to the lake. I walk toward them slowly and open the gate to find Dylan on one knee holding the most gorgeous ring I have ever seen. He looks up and asks "Will you go on more adventures with me?." I immediately reply of course and the photographer emerges from the bushes to capture the moment. He knew that I wanted a private proposal & a photographer but I hadn't discussed what my dream ring or proposal would look like. The ring is beyond my wildest dreams and this proposal will live in my memory for as long as I live. I am forever grateful :)
Bale means yes in Farsi and it was the easiest decision we've ever had to make. On November 27th we signed our names on our hand painted nikkahmas that hangs proudly in our bedroom. It was a small ceremony held in a masjid in Oakland. We chose to keep our nikkah simple to honor my family’s wishes before beginning our life together under one roof. This date was especially meaningful to us because Thanksgiving is our favorite holiday and for years to come, it will be a time to thank God not only for our blessings, but for our union.
