We first met on FOCUS placement day in May 2022. Well, we actually met in Phoenix at the SLS conference in January 2020, but Hannah didn't remember. Good thing we took a picture, so I had proof ;). Anyways, we were teammates at Georgia Tech with FOCUS where our friendship developed throughout the year. At the end of that year, I moved to Beaumont, TX to be the team director at Lamar University while Hannah stayed at Tech. We remained good friends & kept in touch often. I had a few romantic thoughts about Hannah & she had some about me, but nothing we really took into great consideration. After all, she was in Georgia. I was in Texas. Long distance didn't really seem like a good idea at the time. A few months passed, we both went on dates with other people, & our friendship hadn't changed at all. Until I went to a retreat near her hometown & stayed at her parent's house for the weekend. In staying with her parents & going on this retreat, I genuinely contemplated pursuing Hannah & knew she was the woman I was being led to. Her joy, silliness, her tender heart, & so much more caught my eye & captured my heart. I finally asked Hannah on a date at SEEK in St. Louis. We went on dates in Atlanta over the next few weeks & became official in early February. We shared life, traveled together, & sought the Lord in all we did together. As we began another transition - Hannah to medical school at Texas A&M & me with FOCUS in Denver - we discussed engagement. We knew the Lord was bringing us ever closer together. And then it became real... On September 29th, I brought Hannah to St. William's in Round Rock, Texas, where she thought her nephew Rafael was getting baptized. I faked the whole thing with the help of her family. She had no idea what was to come. And it has been so, so good! Now, we sit here before you as you read our story thankful for your prayers and your support as we prepare for Holy Matrimony.
