What is the closest airport?

Answer

1. Charlotte Douglas International Airport in Charlotte, NC (about 1.5 hours away by car) 2. Piedmont Triad International Airport (GSO) in Greensboro, NC (about 1 hr 20 min by car) 3. Asheville Regional Airport (2 hrs 12 min by car) We will book a public shuttle service from Charlotte airport to Boone/Blowing Rock. Please let us know what time your flight arrives/departs if you’d like to be on the provided shuttle! We are waiting to book until we have an idea how many people are flying in and when. If you’d like to book this shuttle service for your own party, you can find tickets here: https://www.hickoryhop.com/routes/ It is $60-90 one way (up to 6 per shuttle) or $160 round trip. PLEASE LET US KNOW WHEN YOUR FLIGHT IS ARRIVING- we will book and cover the cost of 2 round trip shuttles for 2 parties of 6. If your party is 2-4, you may have to wait on others to join the shuttle, but the sooner you let us know when your flight arrives, the more likely it is we can put you on a shuttle to Boone ☺️

Where should I stay?

Please check out the lodging info on the travel tab: https://www.zola.com/wedding/dylanandchet/travel There are nearby airbnb's and lodges in Purlear as well as several hotels in the neighboring towns. The two closest major cities are Wilkesboro (10-15 min away) and Boone (20-30 min away). Charlotte is 1.5 hours away, Asheville is 2 hours away, and Raleigh is about 2 hr 20 min away.

What about transportation?

Day of: We have reserved 14-passenger vans to pick up & drop off from Boone & Purlear lodging all night. Shuttles are available from 4-11 PM. Deadline to sign up is April 11, 2026! Sign up for the shuttle in advance here!!: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0A4BA9A62AA6F4C43-57810983-chelsea Shuttle will pick up at Holiday Inn University and Country Inn & Suites in Boone! They will also swing by Wanderlust Airbnb & Park Motor Lodge in Purlear. First pick up at 4 PM (6 PM ceremony, but there may be games and snacks if you want to be there a bit early), last call to go home will be at 11 PM. Boone is about 40 minutes to the venue. Stragglers will need to arrange a "DD" (; But don't worry, we will make announcements. There is ample parking at Sky Retreat, but please don't risk drinking and driving down a dark, windy mountain road! As far as getting to lodging from the airport, we will see what we can do about carpools/scoops as we get a better idea who is flying in and when. But we’ll do our best!! There is a shuttle from Charlotte Airport to Boone: https://www.hickoryhop.com/routes/ They pick up at baggage claim between zones 1 & 2. $50 one way $90 round trip Additional family members $25/$45 Let us know in advance when your flight arrives and we will do our best to cover a shuttle for you! We will book and cover the cost of 2 shuttles of 6 people; if you’re a party of less than 6 you may have some wait time a the airport for other wedding guests, but the sooner you let us know when your flight arrives, the more likely it is we can put you on a shuttle to Boone ☺️

What is there to do in the area?

See pricing and contact info here: https://www.vandbexperience.com/experiences-pricing Nearby, you may want to check out the Park Lodge diner, the mountainview restaurant at Gideon Ridge, Lantern Farm Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze, and several nice hikes, overlooks, picnic spots, and wineries! You may find much more shopping, restaurants, and entertainment in Boone.

May I bring a "plus one"?

Please defer to your invitation! To ensure we meet the venue's capacity requirements and can feed everyone, we have to limit the amount of additional guests we can include. We did our best to ensure close family and friends and anyone we know to be in a relationship has room to bring their partner. Again don't hesitate to reach out! I don't think we are mean people :D

This is a kid-friendly wedding, but please let us know if they’ll be joining you when you RSVP, so we can ensure food & a seat for them!

What should I wear?

Answer

If you love a theme, we're leaning into white lotus dinner party semi-formal vibes. But come however you're comfortable! You won't be turned away in jammies. We gently ask guests not to wear political apparel to the ceremony or reception. :)

Directions to Sky Retreat

Please note: The Blue Ridge Parkway is closed at this time. DIRECTIONS TO SKY RETREAT: Sky Retreat Address: 438 Cascade Dr. Purlear NC 28665 Directions to Sky Retreat coming from the Wilkesboro area: Coming up the mountain on Hwy US-421 N, take the exit ramp onto Hwy US-221 N and continue 2.5 miles. Turn right onto Idlewild road, and continue for 3.5 miles. Turn right onto Phillips Gap Rd and continue 2.1 miles until it intersects with the Blue Ridge Parkway. Turn LEFT on the parkway and go a short distance to the next full gravel road on your right (which is Phillips Gap Rd continuing on the other side of the parkway). Turn right onto this road marked by the green street sign that says Phillips Gap Rd and continue one mile. Turn right onto Cascade Drive and continue to reach the Grand Event Hall at the end of Cascade Dr. Directions to Sky Retreat coming from the Boone area: Heading out of Boone on Hwy US-421 S, take the exit ramp onto Hwy US-221 N and continue 2.5 miles.
