How We Met

For their first date (courtesy of the Bumble dating app), Dylan made the trek all the way from Jonesboro, Arkansas to Memphis, TN (about an hour lol) and met at Sunrise Memphis, a brunch spot. Carmen arrived about 10 minutes late (Dylan still likes to tease her about that). Up until this point, Carmen was about ready to give up on dating altogether because, let’s be honest, most of the time it’s not fun. But during that brunch, Carmen was very pleasantly surprised. The first thing she noticed about Dylan was how easy he was to talk to. The first things Dylan noticed were how nice and cute Carmen was and “Why is she eating a sandwich with a fork and knife?” (I was trying to be polite and not make a mess) Carmen enjoyed the date so much that she suggested prolonging the date, going to a bookstore (she never did that). Dylan was a little surprised and excited to spend more time with Carmen. After their date, Dylan messaged her through the app stating that he had a great time, and would love to see her again. About a month later, Dylan asked Carmen to be his girlfriend. She was honestly scared worrying, as everyone does, about whether this would work out or if she would get hurt in the end. She remembered thinking, “Take a risk. Have faith.” She said yes, and of course it paid off! As they continued to date, Carmen slowly began to realize that she was in love with Dylan. What drew her to him was his kindness, supportive nature, dedication to his work, and his unconditional love. She felt a peace with him that she’d never experienced before. Dylan knew he loved her for her thoughtfulness, her desire to take care of others, and he could be completely himself around her. For his proposal, Dylan created the perfect set up for Carmen. He planned a getaway to her favorite place, the Smoky Mountains in Gatlinburg (also where they went for their first trip together) and proposed at the top of Mount LeConte (Myrtle Point to be exact) after a 7 mile trek with thousands of feet in elevation. With sweat and tears at the top, Carmen of course said yes! Carmen and Dylan have had so much fun planning this very special day, not just for themselves, but for their friends and family. They cannot wait to eat, drink, dance, and celebrate with all of you!.
