Once a power plant built from 1912, Plant Riverside District has been converted into a hub of entertainment in Savannah and is located right on the river! It is know for its art, music, frequent events, and abundance of shops, restaurants, and bars! The JW Marriott is located in this district and is a must-see in Savannah! The lobby of the hotel is part of the original power plant and now serves as a jaw dropping museum featuring fossil, huge geodes, gemstones, and more! One of our favorite spots to grab a quick drink is located off the main lobby - Baobab Lounge!
If you'd like to learn about the history of Savannah, we highly recommend doing a trolley tour! There are two main companies that run these: Old Town Trolley Tours and Old Savannah Tours. The Hop-On Hop-Off tour is a great option because you are able to get on/off as you please at each stop. This allows you to explore the city on foot and stop in at places to eat, drink, and shop!
One of the best ways to get a full Savannah experience is to go on a ghost tour! There are many different companies that offer tours, we recommend looking this up online and reading reviews to pick which would be best for you. There are even a haunted "pub crawl" options!
Tybee island is our local beach spot, a quick 25 minute drive from downtown Savannah! On your way to Tybee, you'll pass through the island we live on - Whitemarsh Island! Here's some of our favorite spots on Tybee Island: Seawolf Featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Amazing cocktails, oysters, and hotdogs (yes, hotdogs)! Huck-a-poos A dive bar with no rules. Cheap drinks, amazing pizza, even better atmosphere! Bubba Gumbos The freshest seafood in town (the shrimp boats dock here)! Back River Brewing A local Tybee Brewery with great drinks and food!
