Important Q & A

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

We have a room block and request guests to stay at Dreams Playa Mujeres as this is where the wedding will also be. Please book through our group via Destination Weddings to ensure the best rate. Click on the "Room Booking" tab on this website for more information regarding travel and booking.

Question

Is this an all inclusive resort?

Answer

Yes, this is an all inclusive resort meaning that unlimited food, drink, alcohol (18+), room service and travel to/from the hotel are included in your total cost when booking. Please note your flight is not included in this cost and you will have to book this separately. Tips for staff are also always appreciated in USD or Pesos.

Question

What is the duration of stay?

Answer

The duration of stay is a 3 night minimum preferably Thursday-Sunday with the wedding being on Saturday. If you'd like to extend your stay, you are happy to do so and our travel coordinator will be able to help out with those details.

Question

Will I have to travel off the resort?

Answer

Outside of traveling to/from the airport, all events involved with the wedding will be hosted on the resort so guests will not have to leave the premise if they don't feel comfortable doing so. Please note the hotel is in a double gated community and there are multiple security check points before getting into the resort.

Question

When should I book my room by?

Answer

We are sending out save the dates early to give guests enough time to plan and save. Due to the room block timelines, we are requesting all guests to book their rooms by February 01, 2027 as guest payments for the room reservation is on February 22, 2027. You are happy to book your room at your earliest convenience if you know you'll be in attendance up until the February 01 deadline. Please book the earlier the better if you want to ensure your preferred room type as it is on a first come, first go basis. If you know you will not be attending, please let us know the sooner the better. We will be sending formal invitations to follow

Question

What is the payment schedule for the rooms?

Answer

For guests who opted out of a travel protection plan, 100% of guest payment will be due February 22, 2027. For those guests with a travel protection plan, 50% is due on February 22, 2027 following a second payment. Please note a $100 deposit is required to reserve your room. If a payment is missed by the deadline and your room is released to the hotel, destination weddings is not responsible for those additional costs and/or the potential of losing your room all together. Additional payment options may be available through Affirm which allows you to pay off your balance beyond your final due date with easy monthly payment options. This option can be found on your invoice.

Question

Is this a family friendly or adults only resort?

Answer

Dreams Playa Mujeres where the wedding and room block is taking place is family friendly. Children 0-2 are welcome for free, children 3-12 come at a discount, and 13+ are charged at the adult price. There is also an adult-only section (18+) called Secrets Playa Mujeres which our guests will have full walking access to throughout their duration of stay. All guests (18+) who go to Secrets can access both resorts at any time and will have access to all of the bars, restaurants and facilities as they would at dreams.

Question

Who can I reach out to if I need help with booking the resort and/or flights?

Answer

Please reach out to our Travel Wedding Specialist, Indira Mota, at 978.307.1003 or imota@destinationweddings.com for assistance through the booking process. She is available Mon-Friday 8am-5pm. If you have any other questions you can also reach out to Cameryn/Dylan or Jen/Jolly directly.

Question

Which airport should I fly into?

Answer

Cancun International Airport (CUN) is the closest and most convenient airport. The airport is approximately a 35-45 minute drive to the resort.

Question

Is Cancun, Mexico Safe?

Answer

Cancun, Mexico is generally considered safe for tourists and statistically speaking, no one can guarantee safety anywhere. Safety is a #1 priority for us and took this into consideration for our guests when choosing a destination location. The US Department of State has issued a level 2 advisory for Quintana Roo State (the same travel advisory to Paris, France). The resort itself is inside a gated community with multiple security checkpoints for entry with 24/7 surveillance on the beach and perimeter. The hotel is a 5-star resort with plenty of things to do during your stay. Please visit travel.state.gov or contact our resort if you have any additional questions or concerns regarding safety.

Question

Should I get a travel protection plan?

Answer

This is contingent upon your preferences, but we do encourage a travel protection plan. Available TPP options will be offered to every guest booking into the Room Block with the choice to accept or decline. Please note: TPP may not be added (for any guest) after their reservation has been confirmed. TPP is non-refundable and non-transferrable. If you have any specific questions regarding travel protection, please reach out to our travel coordinator.

Question

Should I book flights or the hotel first?

Answer

We recommend securing your room first and flights after. Rooms are on a first come first go basis. Booking early guarantees your desired room and availability.

Question

When should I book my flights?

Answer

This is up to your preference, but we recommend 2-6 months prior to the wedding. Flights can fill up quickly and may be more expensive the longer you wait. You can either book flights yourself or reach out to our travel coordinator for assistance with this.

Question

Do I need a passport?

Answer

Yes- all guests traveling to Mexico will need a valid passport that isn't expiring within 6 months of travel.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

More information will be provided once formal invites get sent out

Question

Are there any other planned events during the stay?

Answer

Please stay tuned for additional information regarding any additional events once we send out our formal invitations. There will be some sort of "welcome drinks" on Thursday and "welcome party/gathering" Friday! These details will be shared after our RSVP deadline.

Question

Are the events indoors or outdoors?

Answer

This is to be determined. We will have finalized details once our official invitations get sent out.

Question

Can I bring my kids?

Answer

If your invitation notes "and family" or we specifically invited your children in the invite/RSVP, then yes your children are invited to the wedding. Outside of the wedding, we want this trip to also be a vacation for you all. You are happy bring kids/ other family members even if they were not invited to the actual wedding so long as you have coordinated child care during the time of the wedding.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

July in Cancun is hot, sunny and humid- perfect for beach and pool days. Expect temperatures to be in the 80s/90s. There could be brief afternoon showers, but they typically pass quickly.

Question

What if I find a better rate for the rooms elsewhere?

Answer

Although our travel coordinators did their best to get the best rates for our guests, if you were able to find better rates through another booking source please reach out Indira Mota at imota@destinationweddings.com. Indira will take a look at the rates you were able to get and do her best to match them so you can still be under our room block.

Question

Can I bring a plus-one to the wedding?

Answer

If your invite notes "and guest" then yes, you are happy to bring a plus one to our wedding. You are happy to bring any friends/family if they'd still like to come for the vacation aspect of the trip!

Question

How much is this trip going to cost me?

Answer

Although this is our wedding, we also want this trip to be a little vacation for everyone which is a large contributing factor to why we chose a destination wedding to begin with. We know traveling for a wedding is a big commitment, so we want to be transparent around the cost. There are many factors that will contribute to your cost (duration of stay, room type, nonstop vs connecting flight, where you're flying out of, travel protection, etc). We did our best to keep cost in mind for our guests while also choosing a resort and location that fits our preferences. On average, a flight to Cancun can typically range from $300-500 USD per person. For a 3 night stay, you can expect to pay about $800 USD a person total which includes unlimited food, drink, alcohol, room service and travel to/from the airport and hotel. When you go to our booking website, you will have the ability to customize your stay based on your preferences and Destination Weddings will give you the breakdown of your total cost excluding flights. Please be aware there are other fees when traveling to Mexico (tourist tax- typically $15-20 USD, environmental tax- typically $2-4 USD).
