How It All Began.... (Dylan)

September 25th 2017

My long time friend Lena invited me to go see the 30th anniversary of the Princess Bride movie. She told me there would be a few guys and that it wouldn't be all girls. I didn't know until I got there that all the guys had cancelled and it was just me and 4 girls. Everyone who was there can confirm that Brie and I hit it off immediately. We saw the movie and wandered the mall that day. Brie and I walked two steps ahead of everyone else just chatting up a storm. And after my stint of car surfing in the mall parking lot, I just captured her heart.😜

How It All Began... (Brie)

The Princess Bride

My friend Lena invited me to go see the the Princess Bride with her and some other people. When we showed up, no one else from our group was there yet so we went to Ming Ten to wait. While I was stuffing my face full of Sushi, she pointed out a black car out the window. The black car belonged to her friend who had his license so he could drive us to the mall after (neither of us had ours at the time). A few minutes later, a skinny guy with a backwards flat bill and a lanyard hanging out of the pocket of his basketball shorts wandered in. She introduced the two of us and we headed down to the movie (it was across the street). It ended up being this guy, Lena, two other girls and I. The movie was great and after we all squeezed into his car and headed to the mall. (I had shotgun) We wandered around for a few hours. The whole time, the three girls talked, and that guy and I ended up really clicking. Consequently, we were walking a few steps ahead (which we get picked on for to this day). The more we talked the more attractive he became. I'd never clicked with someone like that before. After shopping, we went to the parking lot to head home. He decided to surf on the roof of his car and I laughed harder than I had in a long time. From that day on, we became best friends. I had no idea that that guy would become my teammate for life.

The Engagement Day

Memorial Day 2021

(From Brie) The day started out normal. My family and I were going to North Beach Park for the day. What I didn't know was that Dylan had messaged my bosses to make sure I got the day off. I had been told the day before that a few of our friends were tagging along. When we got there, I realized that there were more of my friends than I thought. It was bitter cold out so there wasn't much swimming. I desperately wanted to swim so I dove in a couple of times but didn't stay long. Dylan and I played catch with a frisbee on the beach. Well we tired but the wind made it more like fetch. My dad was grilling and everyone else just hung out, played music and talked. After doing lunch together I was bitter cold so I put on my dress cover up, a jacket, sandals and stole Dylan's sweat pants. (I may have looked like a child). We all decided to go for a walk up the steps that led to the look out over the water. Our friends raced to the top and Dylan and I made our way to the top a bit slower. Once we got up, I needed a second to catch my breath. I had no idea what was about to come next. Gabe pulled me off to the side, like he had something important to tell me. This was to allow Dylan to get down on one knee behind me. I turned around and was so shocked! I fell into him and kissed him deeply. After that I couldn't stop crying. I was so happy that It finally happened! My parents were at the bottom of the lookout which we realized when we heard my dad yell "wahooo" at the top of his lungs! Our friends played our song from a phone and we danced together. (I was still crying). While this was happening my friends were jokingly proposing to each other and cracking all kinds of jokes. I barely noticed. I was on cloud nine. Our future together was just getting started. The day I had dreamt of for years had finally become a reality.
