In 2018, Alex was briefly unemployed and Dylan had recently moved back to Los Angeles from New York. Fate would have it that they worked together at Alana's, making coffee and becoming good friends, but it was not yet their time. Both were in other relationships; Dylan left for other opportunities, but something drew them back together. Dylan returned to Alana's where she and Alex rocked the espresso bar together, slinging 100 lattes on the weekends. But coffee wasn’t the only thing brewing. In fact, the ease with which they worked together, keeping cool under pressure, communicating clearly, and recognizing one another for their effort laid the foundations of their relationship. Their friendship grew into a major crush, then into a semi-secret courtship before dating in full stride. Half of their friends weren't the least surprised, and the other half didn't care, but they were thrilled. A couple months passed and they became inseparable. They adopted two sweet kitties, Stevie and Rue, who would live with Alex. Ostensibly, they were adopting them separately, but they both knew that wasn’t really true because shortly after they moved in together. Maybe a little fast, but that didn't bother them. And then Covid happened... Lucky for them, living together in lockdown was fine. When they weren’t doom scrolling, they spent the year binge watching comfort TV, doing living room workouts and sanitizing produce. That was a clear testament to their ability to live together through hardship and enjoy each other’s company 24/7. As things returned to normal, Alex and Dylan readjusted to life. Alex finished school, and Dylan made music, each supporting the other in their endeavors. A couple years passed and their relationship matured, as did the two as individuals. In the fall of 2024, on a trip to New York to celebrate Dylan's parents' 40th wedding anniversary, Alex proposed to Dylan in Central Park, to which she gave a quick and ecstatic yes. Delighted, they spent the rest of the trip in a euphoric state, already planning this wedding. Although they have been together for years by now, when they decide to do something, they do it fast and pour themselves into it. Together they have confronted many unknowns, but know they will always have each other. With the love of their family and friends, they are excited to take the next step in their lives and shared future.
