One of Canada's most iconic sites. The historic, neo-Gothic Parliament Buildings stand tall on a hill overlooking the majestic Ottawa River in downtown Ottawa. You can visit in day and book a tour inside or at night and see the Norther Lights Sound and Light Show (till early September).

Founded in 1961, Upper Canada Village is one of the largest living-history sites in Canada. Here, we endeavor to depict life in a rural English Canadian setting during the year 1866. Aspects of late 19th-century social life, music, religion and politics are discussed and demonstrated by knowledgeable staff dressed in clothing of the period.
There are heaps of beaches peppered around the inner city of Ottawa. But if your looking to get out of the urban jungle, there are loads of great lakes (and probably less e. coli) not far out of Ottawa. Check out the list on this website.
