We met one Sunday afternoon after church. He was coming out of one building and I was coming out of another. I immediately noticed how handsome he was and wondered who he was since I had never seen him before. Our friend Pierre (who he was with) introduced us and although it was a brief interaction it left a lasting impression on Dwayne. We didn't see each other again for another month and we had another brief interaction. The first time that we actually had a conversation that lasted more than 2 minutes was at our church's thanksgiving potluck and this interaction left a lasting impression on me. I was so impacted by talking to him so much that I wrote to God about him in my gratitude journal. God used every interaction after that one to slowly bring us together and I'm so thankful. I never imagined that the man I ran into at our church parking lot was the man God had been saving for me to marry.

The day started with Dwayne making a trip the place where he first asked Tawina to be his girlfriend. He sat on the bench where he had asked her and expressed his heart to her through 2 journal entries in the journal that the two of them pass back and forth. When he picked her up for their date that evening he took her to the place where he had first wanted to tell her that he was in love with her. Dwayne delayed in saying it on that day but Tawina knew that he wanted to say it at that time and Place. Before they left that place he asked her to read one of the journal entries he had written that morning. Dwayne then took her to a park where he had picked out a particular gazebo to ask her to be his wife for the rest of their lives. After reading to her the second journal entry that he had written that morning, he got down on one knee, presented her with a ring and asked that very thing. She said “Yes”. A double date had been planned that evening with the couple that had provided them with guidance on how to honor and please God throughout their courtship. They first celebrated their engagement with them over dinner. Dwayne then suggested that they change locations to another restaurant for dessert. When they arrived at the restaurant, the evening ended with a surprise engagement party that Dwayne had planned with about 60 of their family and closest friends who were there waiting to celebrate with them.
