Didn’t expect this… now we’re getting married

We first met at a mutual friend’s party — back when Duy was much skinnier than he is today (had to say it). We instantly felt a connection… or maybe it was just good vibes and good company, but either way, something clicked. About a week later, Duy added me on Facebook, and that’s when the nonstop chatting and texting began. Not long after, we went on our first date. We’re still not sure why we decided to watch a movie on our first date, but somehow we did. We spent forever trying to decide what to watch (because of course), and somehow landed on Eternals. Plot twist: I had already watched it — because I love Marvel and usually see new releases on the first or second day — but I totally acted like I hadn’t so we could watch it together. To this day, we still talk about it, and yes… we’ve even rewatched it a few times. Duy showed up fully dressed up. He’s into hypebeast fashion, so of course he was overdressed for a simple movie date. These days, though, he doesn’t really care anymore — and now I’m the one dressing up for him. We laugh a lot. We rarely argue, and honestly, we’ve never had anything serious to fight about. Duy is definitely the character in our relationship, and his favorite thing to do is make me laugh — especially because I tend to take everything so seriously. I’m shy, always thinking about other people’s feelings, and probably way too polite. Duy loves that about me, but he also reminds me to be strong and not let anyone take advantage of me. Thanks to him, I’ve learned to stand up for myself a little more… and yes, I’ve also picked up some of his funny attitude and now love teasing him back. When we finally told people we were dating, both our families and friends were very curious about who the “other” person was. We kept things low-key until we were ready. We still remember our first Facebook post — no tags, no faces, nothing obvious. Our friends were shocked and confused, like, “Wait… when did this happen?!” Duy is truly a gentleman. He takes care of me in the smallest but most meaningful ways. He opens every bottle of water for me, holds doors, always lets me eat first, knows what I like, surprises me with flowers and gifts, and always makes sure I’m okay. These little things may seem simple, but to me, they mean everything. They show me every day how much he loves me. When Duy asked me to marry him, I cried… a lot. It wasn’t perfect — he was just too excited and couldn’t wait until the day he had planned. At that time, we had just bought a house, started new jobs, and had so many big changes happening in our lives all at once. Everything felt overwhelming, but in the middle of all that chaos, one thing was always clear: we wanted to choose each other forever. And honestly, that imperfect, emotional, beautiful moment was so “us” — full of love, tears, excitement, and real life. With Duy, I feel safe, supported, and truly myself. He’s my best friend, my biggest supporter, and my favorite person to laugh with. We’ve grown together, learned together, and built a life full of love, joy, and memories. Looking back, it’s amazing how one party, one Facebook request, and one Marvel movie led us here. Now, as we begin this next chapter, we’re so grateful to be surrounded by family and friends who have supported us along the way. We can’t wait to spend forever choosing each other, laughing together, and continuing this beautiful journey side by side. Thank you for being part of our story — we’re so excited to celebrate with you.
