Duwaun and Summer met at the ripe ages of 23 and 20 in the drive-thru line at Chick-fil-A, where Summer was working at the time. Summer is from Atlanta, so the first thing she noticed about Duwaun is that he was NOT your typical guy from the city. This piqued her interest. Duwaun was fairly new to the city, but quickly realized Summer wasn't your typical girl from the city. They wouldn't call it love at first sight, but something was definitely special. Over the next two years, they met one another's families and even took a trip to Kingston, Jamaica, together to visit Duwaun's family there. The relationship took a huge turn in March 2024, when the couple separated for about four months. During those four months, the Lord met both of them where they were, and Summer and Duwaun sought out a relationship with Jesus Christ on their own. One Sunday in June of 2024, Summer called Duwaun and invited him to church. Although they weren't in a relationship, they remained friends, so Duwaun accepted the invite. On that day, they went to church, exchanged testimonies, and decided to navigate following Christ, building godly community, and living in a way that is pleasing and acceptable to God, together. In January of 2025, Duwaun officially asked for Summer's hand in courtship, and in November of 2025, he asked for her hand in marriage. Both Duwaun and Summer believe that without the prayers of close friends, family, mentors, and pre-marital guidance from their church, this union wouldn't have gotten to this point. There aren't enough words to describe their gratitude for the Lord's faithfulness in keeping and building up this relationship. More than anything, Duwaun and Summer's prayers are that the grace and love of God overflows in them and is imparted upon each person that they are blessed to do life with.
