Many wonder how we met. She's from South Carolina, and he's from Canada. Canada!?! Yes, we are an international couple. Well, we met unintentionally online. Yes, online. We were gym junkies on a fitness app. That is where we became 'friends' we don't know how long ago... over seven years, we know. One day, I (Jess) posted a picture of my Garmin run. Dustin got the brave idea to ask if I would be interested in Steps Challenge through the Garmin app. Yes, I said, but you will have to tell me how. So, he did. I won one, then he won one... not sure who won first. But we had to do best two out of three, then three out of five... you see where this is going... Yes, seven years worth of steps challenges. Some how we started messaging each other. A wonderful refreshing friendship grew from there. Then five years ago, Dustin challenged me to a Spartan run. Of course, I said yes. He called that day, and we started planning a race almost a year out. That was going to be the first time we met... but from that first time talking on the phone and the daily talks that followed, he couldn't wait to meet me. I asked why, and he said because you're interesting. I'm interesting!?! Not because I'm pretty or nice but because interesting. He had me hooked from there, I think. He came down in the beginning of October that year and had the most wonderful time. After he returned home, we decided to make October 12, 2019 our official relationship start date. Who knew we'd make it through COVID, let along, the distance. Both of us have traveled back and forth between the US and Canada since his first trip down. In July 2023, on one of my trips to Canada, Dustin asked for me to marry him, and, of course, I said YES! I'm seeing a pattern here... He asks, and I say yes. (The picture below is where Dustin got down on one knee and asked politely for my hand in marriage. And yes, he said please.) At last, on October 12, 2024, a very suiting day, we will say I Do, for the first time. We look forward to making this date even more special with our family and friends. Memories that will last a lifetime. Then continuing on making more memories in Victoria, BC on November 2, 2024 for our second I Do. Again, making amazing memories with our family and friends.
